Crossing the Rubicon: Has Gemini made this forum obsolescent?

Featured Replies

Not everything is on the internet. So no. Gemini has not made sites like this obsolete.

I have used AN many time for finding info on where to get certain items or find local services. Many small businesses are not advertised online, so I doubt Gemini would ever be any good for finding such places.

Local knowledge from members here has provided me with answers that I doubt Gemini ever could. Sure. It could tell me where the local Tops is, but some little one man, no name electronics repair shop tucked away only two minutes from my home? I doubt it.

Plus, it won't actively post stories and photos as many members have done in the past.

  • Unfortunately AI is delusional, bias and will mostly tell you what you want to hear dependent on how you phrase the question.   Try asking it what day it is? Or today's date, in my experienc

No, everyone's guess is probably far better than yours. I'd even take Forrest Gump's guess in preference!

No way Gemini or any other AI would make the most outlandish, ridiculous, ignorant, racist and misogynistic comments you see on here....so no it won't totally replace AN.

Here is what I already stated:

"So then, if you wish my opinion.....I would say that ThaiVisa is still relevant and useful for those who need up-to-date info about what is happening, and for those that might need help here in Thailand, which is what this forum was originally designed to provide.

You might not be able to get such info from Gemini.  And, Gemini never gives you the human hand, the kind hand outstretched, like ThaiVisa does.....

BUT, if you want to discuss something like why Chomsky no longer agrees, or has revised, his thoughts about Syntactic Structures, then ...Gemini all the way."

Of course, this is true, as even you must admit.

First read, and then respond.

This is your very best strategy, IMHO....

This is a Public Service Announcement:......

In case you old guys might wish to delay the inevitable, the inevitability of your brains turning to mush:

My suggestion is that you pay for Gemini, and then debate Gemini, about FIVE HOURS EACH DAY.....

ThaiVisa is great for many things.

However, if you really want to exercise your brain-cells, and stay up to snuff, then there is nothing better than debating with Gemini on many fronts.

Also, I strongly suggest:

aa.  You begin with one Topic, and then switch to at least a half-dozen topics, within a period of 30 minutes.

bb.  This is what I tend to do, both on ThaiVisa and also while using Gemini.

cc.  Do you think I am joking?

dd.  No, I am not joking.

ee.  Some of you guys might not know how to use an AI in order to keep your minds agile, and from turning to the dregs you often see after eating your cold cornflakes and milk.

ff.  No.  I am not joking.....

1.  Start with any topic.

2. Start debating and correcting Gemini.  Of course, Gemini rarely makes mistakes.  It is you, the human, who is making mistakes.

3. Gemini, like any other good AI, is a mirror of your own mind.

4.  IF you mind is mush, then you cannot expect much.

5. Fortunately, my mind, my brain, is GENIUS level.  And so, I get genius insights thrown back at me from Gemini.

6. If you give Gemini garbage...then you get garbage in return....

As we all know:  GARBAGE IN....GARBAGE OUT.....

Or, as Winters once suggested....

Bottom line:

If you can go from one Topic to the next, 50 times per minute, then you will find Gemini a true gas, even at its present state.

A true gas, Folks...and this is absolutely true......

It's a gas, gas, gas....

Best thing since sliced bread....in fact.....

And, just getting better, and doubling, by the half-year....

My best advice to you old guys.....

Do not try to fight the tide.

Embrace change....ALWAYS.....

There are greater things ahead......

Forget the hype....

Artificial Intelligence is now here to stay.

We knew it was coming, but we did not know when.

And now, it might just almost be here.

When it happens, you will know it.

There will be no debate about it.

So then prepare yourselves for the day and time.

When this happens....everybody here will be totally blown away......

That was 1983.

And, Now is NOW.....
