Dude, you seemed to be calling the OP a liar, and now you're claiming I am attempting to belittle you.

Just as I thought, a typical AN a$$ who lacks reading comprehension.

I can offer even more vivid details, if necessary. I can also provide photos of the scene, for a small fee, of course.

Twice with oysters.  First time, intentional.  Second time, by mistake.  Once by under cooked shellfish, some kind of sea snail.  Cipro worked all 3 times.  Sometimes that is all the pharmacies stock.

To be safe I stay away from all shellfish, cooked or not, when visiting Thailand.

You intentionally got food poisoning? Also, food poisoning can happen not just from bacteria, but from toxins or chemicals getting into the food during prep. That's part of why I rarely eat out anymore.

The issue with Cipro is that, while it’s worked for you so far, it doesn’t always do the trick. Sometimes, it doesn't clear up the infection because its nor specifically for stomach bacteria and then the bacteria can become resistant to antibiotics. Next time you’re in Thailand, I’d suggest picking up some Norfloxacin and keeping it on hand, just in case. I always carry some with me. It’s about 50 Baht for a strip of 8-10 tablets (depending on the brand), and the dosage is twice a day for 3-4 days. If you have a choice, go for the Siam brand.

Never been sick on street food but have on frozen foods

The first time I ate raw oysters, I knew what they were, but did not know they would make me sick.  The second time I did not know that were in a dish that I ate until after they were eaten.  Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Thanks for the advice about Norloxacin.

Don't let your MRS cook it

I recall Trink used to comment about tomain poisoning from street food

  • Formation: Ptomaines are produced when bacteria break down proteins in dead or decaying animal and plant matter.

2017 Amphawa floating market.  Ate some noodles / squid thing just before getting on the boat tour.  Within an hour it was vomit overboard and fish come to eat it.

2014 Dominican republic.  Friend's house that was hosting us said they keep a bucket next to the toilet in the outhouse  -- just in case you need both at the same time.  Woke up in a sweat late at night (6 hours after eating) to rush outside in the dark and pouring rain looking for the outhouse.  Didn't make it on time and exploded from both ends outside in the garden.   Quick outdoor shower with the hose and back to bed. Next morning, no evidence.  Thanks rain!

Mine was back in the late 80's in Catania Italy.

Me and a co-worker had eaten at a seafood restaurant, La Luna if I remember correctly.

We were flying to London then to SFO the next day.

I was dreadfully ill on the flight from Catania to London.

So ill I couldn't make the flight connection to San Francisco

Spent a day puking my guts up whatever I had left in there in a hotel room

Fun Times
