  • Im sorry, but isn't she suspended from her position as PM and even as a minister? Why and how can she say what will happen in July?    Either way, this casino idea will really hurt the Thai

Without a doubt. Her older relatives are in control.

However a muppet she is not:-

From Mr. & Mrs. Google

"Paetongtarn Shinawatra holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Chulalongkorn University and a Master of Science degree in international hotel management from the University of Surrey."

She, and others, is proof, in my opinion, that extremely rich people should be barred from holding political office.

Success in business does not equate with success in organising a country for the benefit of the people who pay them.

I doubt they gave a toss about the thoughts of the Thai people. It was just a backlash against the Shinawatras

An outcome of this is maybe Hun Sen will be happy as this is why he is so pissed, legal casinos in THailand will hurt his country
Get rid of scam centers will hurt his country
Lose Koh Kut and all the oil around there, will hurt his country ( why he wants outside mediation concerning the border issues, as he is hoping they will give Cambodia the island.)

If Thai's were not allowed to play, only foreigners, a casino would have created a lot of good jobs. If it was built next to BKK, they could have concentrated their marketing campaign on ASEAN countries. Fly in for a weekend, lose their money, fly home.

But nobody in the Thai govt knows what their doing.

Absolutely.  One of the first comments on this thread was one moaning about how the casinos would be so bad for Thai betters, conveniently overlooking that ordinary Thais would not be allowed in to bet in the first place.  That's the problem, in a nutshell.  So much disinformation allowed to stand uncontested.  And, allowing a small--but loud--group opposed to the bill to kill it.  Plus a weak, spineless, incompetent government that did a very poor job of selling this very beneficial plan to the public.

Like I said the govt doesn't know what makes sense, and what doesn't in regards to casinos. I was in that business for over 30 years, so I know better than them, or you.

Condo ownership is off topic, but I will say if you don't like Chinese, stay out of Asia.

I don't like roaches either ..  they are also all over the place

You're probably right.

They're all from Chinese stock as are many others in government.

They are now looking at other avenues to generate big brown envelopes,  some will have to put there early retirement plans on hold

Poor papa Toni didn’t get his way had they allowed this crazy ifea to go forward they would of had to allow gambling for all be it football , horse racing the list is endless you cannot have a Casino yet ban all other forms of gambling

And you don't think thais have access to do this now despite the worthless gambling laws ?.... There's this thing called the internet lol

I'm firmly against casinos.

My Thai wife is, given the chance, a fanatical gambler .

Out of control with no thought of the consequences (fairly common here I've noticed !).

But every so often , the casino(s) let the occasional punter win ...or even the whole table, and the craving is renewed.

Win back what they've lost at any cost, usually resulting in any rare "winnings" all being given back.

Trippy might agree.

I draw only from my observations after 20yrs working in Hong Kong and many trips to Macau . ..for a couple of great restaurants , pretty girls of all nationalities , and a small flutter in one of the now dozens of the elaborate casinos .

Yes, they may prevent some locals playing but we all know how rules, regulations and laws flip flop here.....or are totally ignored !

NO TO CASINOS !
