This is turning into a clusterfrick. Did anyone ever think of looking at places that have legalized weed and see what they are doing? Canada going fine, also more than 25 states now. All making money and nary a problem one. Old dinosaurs still trying to line the trough, but not a clue how to do it.

Lets not forget none of this has been made into law yet if EVER ! Can I make a law today without a vote? I ban all booze from Thailand as of now because I say so.

  • Let it all shake out a while. I'm sure it will get easier and cheaper.

  • It may all be moot if that political player Anutin manages to snag the PM position or if his party is needed in the coalition government and that is not beyond the realm of possibility.

Agree they are totally lost and have decided to make all those involved criminals over night because THEY say so.

Yes I know that!  How many posters actually suffer from one of those conditions?  Perhaps 4 or 11??

Is stress one of them caused by the chaos caused by the minute yes no yes no and some guy has decided to change the law because HE wants it? One moment I am a criminal and than not than again. Who wants to deal with a government that changes it mind sometimes day by day?

There is of course an alternative and that is the black market for dope which disappeared but thanks to idiocy will now be back.

Prohibition doesn't work! So, instead of regulating this substance AND collecting taxes, it will go back to being underground, not regulated and not taxed. This is also a level of betrayal by the government to the substantial number of entrepreneurs and workers who make a living supplying this product.

Logically, if alcohol is legal and not regulated (no medical cert needed and no freaking 30-day limit every proposed), then common sense says weed should be classified the same. I like beer, but alcohol is definitely more dangerous to society and health... obviously. Oh well, this is the Land of Smiles, not the Land of Thinking Things Through. 🤔😒

Has anybody been able to get a medical card or prescription yet?. Ive rang two major hospitals, and been into two local clinics, neither are currently supplying anything. I see some online places are advertising.

I live in Phuket Town. There is one registered shop in town. I'm going to go there today to chat about this. I read that they have an 'in house' medical practitioner.  I would like to get the 1-year card at least.

I'll report back on my findings.

Additional info: I have a legit illness that weed helps. My daughter committed suicide 4 years ago and I have a lot of problems dealing with it, of course. I also have severe insomnia. I've had that all of my life and have been on prescription drugs for decades. It's unhealthy and doesn't really work that well. I was recently able to stop my multi-year Xanax prescription thanks to Indica. My depression and anxiety levels have not been negatively affected by switching medications. For health reasons, I prefer edibles over smoking.

Thanks. I'm in Phang Nga, but Phuket is going to be my best hope i think, and I'm there a few times a week on business.

Look forward to your update.

What would you do if cannabis cards are restricted only to Thai citizens?

Buy it online as many Thai and non Thai do. With some shops closing, the amount of product available will be huge, so online sales will increase, plus its cheaper. Always a way.....

They've made no mention of that. I would be even dumber if they did.  I've got Thai Social Security, a pink card, Work Permit, and I've been here for over 3 decades.  So, even though none of this would matter if they make a blank rule that affects all non-Thais, it would simply drive people underground... no taxes, no monitoring, etc.

Besides, if I wanted to live under authoritarian rule, I could move back to my homeland. 🤔😊

Do you have a QR code or a way to get hold.thanks

I went to Greenhead Clinic in Phuket Town and got my Medical Cannabis ID Card and prescription. It only took about 20 - 30 minutes and everything was dead easy.  They have an in-house medical professional.

I took all sorts of documentation with me (Tabian Baan, Thai Social Security card, Passport, Work Permit, etc), but only needed my passport. If you only want a paper document version of the card, that is 200 baht. I opted for the plastic card. It was 1,000 baht and they did it in the shop. That took the longest time to create.

I also got a 1-month prescription. I think that was 120 baht.

All-in-all, it was very professional and easy. They don't speak much English, but I'm fairly fluent in Thai and knew the medical terms that I needed to sign up. If you're not conversational, you could use Google Translator or similar I'm sure.

The document says 30 grams per month.

I didn't know Greenhead was a big organization with other branches. That's good to know. The card also gives me a 20% at their shop and King's Club shops. That's nice.

According to Google Maps they also have a branch in Bangkok on Silom right next to the BTS station. It looks like a small shop though. I wonder if they are issuing the cards and prescriptions there too or not.

According to their Google Maps listing, they have nearly 30 branches around Thailand.

We called first to see if the clinic had a doctor on-site.  They did.  I recommend calling first as that it was made it so quick and easy. I read somewhere about the future potentially involving one doctor per 10 clinics... I think that was pure speculation. Everything seems to be in the grey. It's akin to the abundant articles about the tax scheme, but no clear mandate on may aspects. Anyway, if the Greenheads in BKK are like the one I went to, it's a piece of cake.

Are these Medical Cannabis ID Card's government issued or currently just shops own cards?

Is it related just to getting a prescription and purchases or related to actual usage, I've not seen anything changing actual usage yet.

If there was an official not just shop printed cards, I may feel a bit more comfortable carrying and using in designated areas but not sure if its needed currently.

Would like to see more on designated areas, out at a central mall and an anxiety or pain attack comes on so you need to take your medicine quickly, needs to be options on that front now its medicinal and used under prescription. Hopefully some of the stigma will be removed at the same time.

Yes, I see where you're coming from and agree.  The medical certificate document states the name of the "medicine license number" for the practitioner who approved me. This at least hints that it's government-related.  It's certainly better than nothing.  Now to see what happens if I ever have to deal with an authority.  They might not be 'up' on the actual law yet (if there in fact is one or not). 🤞

No requirements , business as usual

I advise everyone, as long as its like this hold off buying the cards and scripts, till u cant

of course, up to u but cant see why anyone would buy weed at `10x the price at one of these shops

What will you do if your stopped by police in possession of weed without a card or prescription?

stopped???
I dont take weed anywhere
its delivered to my house.

Yeah, that's silly and very inefficient. It's easy for me to hop on my bike and go to this clinic. It's 15 minute away.  That's still something I'd rather not have to do once per month.  It's not like my medical condition is on a monthly schedule. 🤷‍♂️

Ok, i understand it was delivered to your house, but a lot of medical weed users will carry it with them wherever they go i case they need it quickly, that's what i was getting at.

Yep, a legit example for me is that I'm going on a 4-day mountain biking trip later this week. I'll be carrying. I asked the doctor about this and she said just show your card to the cops.  I asked her about the amount I could have on me and she didn't really say. I assume a gram/day would be acceptable as that jives with the monthly limit.  4 grams in 4 days is plenty for me.
