Do Foreign Men Often Move to Thailand Because They Can’t Get Women Back Home?

Featured Replies

There are a at least a couple who seem to have moved here so that they can spend their time starting pointless threads which concentrate on asking (impertinent) personal questions to emphasise their perceived moral superiority.

We definitely need a "bugger off" emoji, possibly even (and aficionados of the late Ronnie Barker who remember his role in "Porridge" will understand this) a "naff off Godber" emoji!

Yes. At 50, single dad with four kids,  I really had my heart set on marrying a per-menopausal, overweight mother of three......but as they kept knocking me back I had to settle for a 23 year old Thai

  • I came for the women. Better to be honest about it than live in denial

The OP is bored. The silly topics are harmless. It is just a forum. None of the banter matters. Most things in life don't.

I heard that young people sometimes travel around South East Asia, and Thailand is one of the most popular countries for them.  Does anyone know whether this is true?  I would love to know...

They can find em but they are nutters or nymhoswho need to service a rugby team

Sure, I would never want to kick a dog unless it attacked so we have different personalities.

How do you get rid of it then?

If you say please stop bothering me it gets closer (takes your interest as a yes), hangs around even more outside your door with some stupid trike...

Tell it to go lay down. Put it in a crate.

I bet a few of you can think of guys who fit the above attire

and tats in Pats..7-day bar boy's face also.

Well I met my Thai wife in Singapore, sordid office romance

But pretty sure I would have ended up with some version of Asian if I'd stayed in California.

Walk down any street in San Francisco and probably 50% of the couples you see are white male and asian female.

For whatever reason evolution seems to have us attracted to certain types

Is that a personal story.......?  🤔

No, I brought my own 30yr old to Thailand.

Certainly you've seen them in the bars you go to, next time look at the reflection in the mirror. Yup, thats you.

A lot of foreign men move to Thailand at least partly because the only women that they have a chance of being with back home are women their own age. Why would you want to be with a bossy, nosy, difficult 65 or 70 year old woman, if you do not have to? No thanks. Life is too short for that.

I'm so sure you can have meaningful conversations. Great to introduce the kids too, welcome to step mom!

If I want meaningful conversations, I've found talking to myself works.

Even though my wife is very smart, I do not get much intellectual stimulation from the relationship. But, I get so much else. And in all of the relationships I was ever in with really smart women, who I got intellectual stimulation from, there was also so much grief to contend with. Such combative women. So much competition. Yikes. Thrilled to death to have left all of that behind.

When I was only in the relationship for a year or so, I had dinner with a very sharp American friend. I asked him about that. He laughed. He said, when you feel the need for intellectual stimulation, call me. We can hook up for the meal, and break down the origins of the cosmos. Do not fret. That same brain that gives you that stimulation, also tends to give you so much grief, it is not worth it, on any level. Get over it. Enjoy all of the other qualities, that make your day so delightful and fulfilling.

Great advice, that I have followed to this day. I learned long ago that an intellectual woman, who can match me intellectually, also tends to be a combative woman, and the chance of harmony is low. I for one, love a harmonious house, where my woman is joyful and light hearted, with a great sense of humor, and an amazing attitude toward life, and us. Just my point of view. Whatever works for you, stick with it.

IMO it's not because they can't get women. It's the standard of women you can get.

In Thailand even older men can get someone who is slim, attractive, no children, a decent attitude, looks after themselves and behaves like a woman. If the relationship fails, you can walk away financially intact as long as you are not stupid.

In farangland, once over 40 you are likely to get someone in excess of 75kg, with 3 kids by 3 different fathers, who swears, drinks, smokes, and thinks the man should do all the housework in between his gym visits and earn 150k per year just to have a chance of allowing her to move into his home. When she becomes intolerable and is kicked out, she will try to take 50% of your life's work and likely succeed through the heavily biased judicial system.

Maybe I'm a little odd, but I kinda get off on that spark of equals.

My wife is actually smarter than me, better education she's got a Master's I'm just a humble BS.

Sometimes when we get into it, it somehow often ends in sex.

I know it sounds like the scenario for a porn movie, but hey it seems to work for us

Never been to a girlie bar. Does not eat Thai or Isaan food. Never been to a muay thai gym or stadium. No Thai friends. Can't speak Thai.
