Thailand's National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is launching an investigation into Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra for alleged serious ethical breaches. The probe arises from an audio clip allegedly capturing discussions between Paetongtarn and Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen about border disputes.

The NACC's unanimous decision marks a critical move after a complaint accused Paetongtarn of violating ethical standards. Chairman Suchart Trakulkasemsook and Commissioner Prapas Kongied will lead the investigation. This action follows a letter from a group of senators dated June 19, urging the Senate President to forward accusations against Paetongtarn to the NACC.

Senate President Mongkol Surasajja initiated the complaint that has now escalated into a formal probe. The senators demand clarity on whether Paetongtarn abused her power or seriously breached ethical guidelines. The investigation could have significant political implications, potentially affecting her leadership and the country's diplomatic relations.

The audio clip at the centre of the controversy reportedly contains sensitive conversations that could impact Thailand's international relations with Cambodia. Both domestic and regional media have been abuzz with reactions, speculating on the clip's authenticity and its potential repercussions.

The investigation highlights ongoing tensions and the importance of maintaining ethical standards in governmental affairs. The NACC's inquiry will be closely watched, as it may shape the political landscape for months to come.

The Shin clan have been a total blight on the country, enriching themselves while supposedly caring for the people.

Funny how decades later they are still rich and the poor are still poor.

The Shinawatra Dynasty has to be banned from politics! Did they not like Dubai very much?? Go! It is so nice there! 😆😂

I'll be happy when the entire Shin clan resides in Dubai.

The offensive weapons on her feet will boost the sale of male groin protectors aka Shinguards.

What did they say she was worth when she became PM ? Something like 22 billion (baht) or more ? And was the "CEO" of over 20 different companies as well.

Things that make you go hmmmmm.

Not sure I think the elite are getting tired of daddy.  The other thing to consider also is that Hun Sen promises that he has first on daddy where thaksin did things to better Thaksin and also promoted aniti monarchy.

If any of that cmes out true or not it will be the end of the shin dynasty in Thailand and he does not have enough clout to be anything in Dubai..

hey it is easy to be CEO when they are daddy's businesses.  Consider CP and red bull the younger generatio in herits what daddy has.  In this case, Daddy was limited as the grandkids are too young to be PM, and son said go to H or declined.  Yingluck had some ability but again Thaksin fed her what she needed to say and do

The bad news according the different media is that the farmers are getting tired of his song and dance as well.

The witch-hunts continue unabated while the country sinks into the mire because of corruption and political feuding.

I'm no fan of her and her party in coalition (especially the absurd policy of open door visas and mass cheap tourism destorying Thailand culture, soft policing) - but this is absurd.

You can't have courts removing leaders because they have diplomatic talks with others that have been secretively recorded. Even removing Sretta last year was on a flimisical whim. How many politicians in the UK and USA have been criminals etc  - but i can't recall a sitting President or Primeminister being removed because of such an issue.

It would mean an end to any diplomacy a Thai leader could have to talk freely is gone.
