First of all, vaping is already illegal. I think that's kind of over the top. It helps people quit smoking.

Second, good riddance. When I do my walks in the morning hundreds of these little <deleted>s are smoking away. What's funny is the cops are often right there. Also drinking, also doing drugs.

Try living somewhere people don't do it...entitlement comes to mind 👍

Indeed.. and many others will not come.... that is why tourism is going down.. Why should I worry about that????

Because people smoke...I doubt you would find a single person that doesn't come because people can smoke..

The Paris Metro (& a thousand other places in Europe are pristine??) Really??🙃🙃

Beat me to it.  Rome and Paris were both especially full of litter when I visited.  And, of course, it's difficult to actually see anything with all the graffitti covering everything everywhere.

They all meet in the morning and someone pulls a topic out of a hat! 'Today's target is' and that is what they go for, all other infringements are ignored that day.

Especially on collection days.

Shirtless tourists should be arrested and fined! LOL!!  I'd like to meet the many expats complaining about this, I'll bet you could fit them in a phone booth.

I have no problem with the smoking ban.

Cigarette and pot smoke smells really bad and is a health hazard. When on vacation or living in a beach area I'm there for the fresh air (as fresh as it can be at least) without additional huffing and puffing of the Mary J and Tabacky.

Thailand does have laws about smoking.... just wonder if the police were ever briefed!

Key Aspects of Thailand's Smoking Laws:
  • Public Transport: Smoking is prohibited on all forms of public transport.

  • Five-Meter Exclusion Zone: A five-meter radius around public building entrances and exits is a no-smoking zone.

  • E-cigarettes: The sale and import of e-cigarettes and e-cigarette liquids are banned.

  • Tobacco Advertising: There is a comprehensive ban on tobacco advertising and promotion.

  • Packaging: Plain packaging is required for all cigarettes, with large pictorial health warnings.

  • Penalties: Violations can result in fines, with a maximum fine of 5,000 baht for smoking in a non-smoking area.

  • Enforcement: Authorities are actively enforcing the laws, including cracking down on e-cigarette usage.

  • Indoor Smoking: Smoking is prohibited in all indoor public places and workplaces.

  • Outdoor Smoking: Smoking is banned on many beaches, with designated smoking areas often provided.

Specific Locations:
  • Airports: Smoking rooms inside Thai airports have been removed, and smoking is prohibited in designated outdoor areas.

  • Beaches: Numerous beaches have been declared no-smoking zones.

  • Public Buildings: A wide range of public buildings and venues are subject to the smoking ban, including government offices, hospitals, schools, shopping malls, and more.

  • Restaurants and Bars: While some open-sided establishments may allow smoking, it is generally prohibited indoors, and it's best to inquire before lighting up.

  • Hotels: Smoking may be allowed on balconies, but not inside hotel rooms.

Important Considerations for Smokers:
  • Check for Signs: Pay attention to "no-smoking" signs in public areas.

  • Ask Before You Smoke: In cases of ambiguity, ask for clarification from venue staff regarding smoking policies.

  • Be Mindful of Crowds: Even in areas where smoking is permitted, be mindful of others, especially in crowded places.

It's a beach location / holiday, so going shirtless is to be expected.   BUT ... to enter into a business, and it should be no shirt / no service, especially restaurants & bars, as I don't want to sit in the same chair you just left with your sweat all over it.

All for smoking ban, all smoke-ables, as I indulge responsibly at home as the decriminization laws was proposed & passed to allow.

Nobody should have to endure any 2nd smoke of any kind in all public areas.  Increasing the fine to 10k or 20k baht works for me.   Especially tobacco products as they seem to litter the beach & walkways.

Carry on smoking boys and girls outside , if that's what you want to do.

But put a shirt on when you leave the beach.

If people don't like the smell of smoke outside.

Then move down the beach a little. :coffee1:

can't have any of that nonsense on a beach can we , truly outrageous

Nobody hates these shirtless slobs more than me, but I do not see anything wrong with being shirtless on the beach, and women should be allowed to be topless also.

"Shirtless tourists should be arrested and fined!" They most certainly should if it's in public, bar of course the beach.

Can't say, because it was the norm everywhere, but the first thing you discovered when they banned smoking, you didn't have hangover anymore, your clothes didn't smell cigarettes, and less girls you went home with didnt smoke on the bed after sex,

The best thing about the 90'ies was banning smoking in public establishments.

It is not only me, my wife is worse, she hated smoking and people do not follow local rules

".........and less girls you went home with didnt smoke on the bed after sex,...."

You obviously weren't trying hard enough! :cheesy:

They could have a roped off area on the beach for filthy smokers, would be easier to clean up, and more importantly ban in bars and restaurants.
