Hi,

has anyone used their yellow house book as their proof of address / residence when renewing their UK passport at VFS Chiang Mai?

Thanks in advance

If it shows your name/address in English, it's fine.

ah - that’s where I have an issue - my name and address are both in Thai

I guess I’m heading off to Immigration for a residence certificate then

Do you have a Thai Drivers License?

I successfully got my new U.K. passport at VFS Chiang Mai using my Thai Drivers License for proof of address - shown in both Thai and English on my Thai Drivers License.

Interesting. Whilst the address is shown, for many people the Thai D/L will not meet the documentary requirements that state:-

"All applicants must provide one document showing photo identity and one document as evidence of name and address and/or residency dated within the last year."

The fact that VfS may not specifically check for that requirement makes it worth trying to use a D/L. In all honesty UKPA are not obstructive and have taken a practical view to address confirmation. In one case a friend had nothing with his address on and UKPA accepted a signed copy of his wife's passport with the statement "I confirm that Mr John Smith lives with me at XYZ".

Never knew you could use the Yellow Book, thanks! Does anyone know how to actually book an appointment for this same purpose at VFS Chiang Mai? I try to book online here and instead of an appointment to renew my Passport, I end up with an appointment to apply for a German and Shengen visa, absolute shambles

I used this to book my appointment - very easy and worked well:

[email protected]

Appointments used to be :

Tuesday and Thursday / 08:30 - 14:00

But I think they change these times depending on how busy they are. I guess now they will be relatively quiet.

Worth dropping them an email.

Good point!! think I used Drivers Licence for photo ID and current bank statement for proof of address. Both addresses were the same.

I've used a certified translation of my Thai D/L for my last 2 renewals and the for my sons PP.  I sent an email to the passport people in UK to ask if it was acceptable and they said Yes.

As I did. I was impressed how helpful they were and they were obviously not looking to put obstacles in my way.
