Aussie Arnaud Harixcalde Logan has been slapped with a "malicious mischief" charge for allegedly attacking the Stone of Destiny's display case in Perth Museum, Scotland. The 35-year-old, reportedly donning a kilt, caused chaos as he attempted to shatter the protective glass surrounding this ancient symbol of Scottish sovereignty.

Logan, hailing from Sydney, faced Perth Sheriff Court but wasn't required to plead, leaving him detained pending a hearing next week. Cops rushed to the scene on Saturday following reports of the kilt-clad commotion at the museum in central Scotland.

The Stone of Destiny, or Stone of Scone, weighing a hefty 150 kilograms, has a storied past. Once integral to the coronations at Scone Abbey, it was seized by King Edward I of England in the 13th century and positioned under the throne at Westminster Abbey. Since then, it has played a pivotal role in the crowning of both English and British monarchs.

A group of Glasgow students famously stole the stone in 1950, but they returned it for Queen Elizabeth II's 1953 coronation. In 1996, marking a historic gesture, the stone made its return to Scotland and took residence at Edinburgh Castle, with the condition that it would travel back to London for future coronations. Under strict secrecy and security, it made its last journey for King Charles III's 2023 ceremony.

Now part of Perth Museum’s collection, officials assure tight 24/7 security. However, the weekend’s events have spotlighted ongoing tensions and the stone's enduring national significance.

Logan the Bogan.

I'd imagine he's from the western suburbs of Sydney... I've met plenty of his ilk during late night drinking sessions there. This species is also known to populate Pattaya gogo bars.

...nor an English monarch after King Harold. After his defeat at Hastings in 1066 we have had rulers from, inter-alia, France (the Norman French), Wales (the Tudors), Scotland (the Stuarts) , Holland (William of Orange) and Germany (the Saxe-Coburg Gothas from Bavaria), the last lot being the current 'UK' royal family.

Indeed, and they have all been monarchs of England (and Scotland since 1603).

I assume you are referring to the  Stuarts from Scotland who reigned from 1603 to 1714.

Someone should tell CNN there's no such thing as a British monarch.

Not quite, Charles III is a king and he is British.

The students did not return it. "The British Government ordered a major search for the stone, but were unsuccessful. The stone was left by those that had been hiding it on the altar of Arbroath Abbey on 11 April 1951, a property owned by the Church of Scotland. Once the London police were informed of its whereabouts, the stone was returned to Westminster four months after its removal."

Well at least he didn’t steal a loaf of bread. Wonder if he’ll be transported back to Australia. 😋
