Chanote was handed over and put in the misses name 15 years back.

Shhhhhh .... don't tell her bother or sister, they don't know.

Sounds like a pixelated front page newspaper story in the making.

  • Let's be honest, for most, its what the girl and her family think they can get away with, relying on the foreigners romantic notions and stories of "tradition".   I paid ZERO! I dont believe

  • Lovely 17 year old daughter is probably worth something.

  • Education is mostly wasted on females anyway.

My FIL asked "Where's my 100,000 Baht"

My wife retorted "Forget it. He's never seen 100,000 Baht"

But did you at least give him the chicken mentioned here?

That's pretty amusing, the there's no doubt that the value goes down after 30, it goes down if she's been married, it goes down if she's had a baby, and it should go down if she is fat or ugly. The amount that is typically asked is way beyond the actual value. It's best to do what we did and just do a fake sinsod, we handed over 400,000, they were able to proudly display the cash at the wedding, the caveat was that they would return it to us the following morning, which they did.

Those ridiculously lavish weddings are a waste of money.

Just put a down payment on a house with that money.

But it is fact, though years back, UK sinsod....🤗

Folk on here, knocking it, may wish to examine their own family history.........:whistling:

The main purpose of marriage is to keep money in the family.

So sinsod or no sinsod .... the money amassed is supposed to stay in the family theoretically.

Sinsod shows you're serious and in it for the long haul.

Just making sure, it's an important point.

I paid 60,000 to build a gate around her family's rural home, 5000 to fix her brothers cracked windshield. I never gave her family sinsod. They never asked for it

I think you are confused again.

Sinsod is not paying for the wedding.

the parents of the bride keep the sinsod money.

Where did you meet her?

Using the official sinsod calculator would she have come in at under or over 65,000?

This is the answer....  Cross cultural Marriages - both sides respected.

Sin-Sod 'shown' as part of the cultural process as distressful as it may seem to us (caveat - no 'amount announced' to remove the pantomime element)...   money returned....

It is not to pay for the wedding.

Though they might have told you that.

You married a woman with children to another man so traditionally you should have just have paid a nominal token amount.

I hope you didn’t get taken for too much a ride mate.

Its all going into record... xxxx has a Masters, educated, white skinned, Chinese Thai, who has a good job -  "he's a liar"....

... to "xxx married a bar-girl with tattoos"....

Why anyone offer's this information up to someone like Malcy - the master of baiting, for this information to be weaponised by him in other threads is beyond me.

I met her at her university in Bangkok. I didn't know anything about sinsod when we got married. She didn't ask for anything, her family is happy enough to have grandchildren which old Thai people rarely get now

I wouldn’t call anyone a liar.

Since being in Thailand I have seen some average men pull some fantastic, stunning women.

And some decent men end up with some terrible women.

Back in the UK it was generally horses for courses.

In the land of smiles the spectrum has been a lot, lot wider.
Some you think “how the hell did he get her” to “what the hell is he thinking?”

You know I am right but you will never admit I am right.

Yeah, we all scored horrible women, I'd have been far better off with a horse ..........

And it would have been a better ride.

Whenever I start a topic, Fred, TA and. Richard always seem to be in the “to posters in the topic” top 4.

Some would say you are “followers”.

But I refer to you as my “fans”

Horse and Whores sounds very similar.

I was in Pattaya awhile back and got asked to go to Whoreshoe Point.

Was disappointed when I got there and saw it was spelt Horseshoe Point.
