This kind of stuff is never reported, it's implied that the customs in different airports communicate with each other. I have watched movies where they show a workshop in a certain airport that is a hot-spot for certain drugs, customs officers from different countries attend the workshops, get to know each other, at the end they all have a common enemy. That's it.

They are just moved to the next plane if it's an instant connecting flight with the same airline, and would be the same at BKK as Qatar Airways (must be them) does work with Bangkok Airways for connecting flights to Samui without rechecking bags, I flew with them back in 2019 going straight to Samui.

Yes I see your point. But I just cannot understand why people deliberately disfigure themselves, that is why I would love to bet that the vast majority of these people have low IQ's. Ask yourself this. How many people who are well educated and in good jobs are over tattooed compared to ordinary working class people?

I have never been stopped at customs in any country in all of my 50+ years of travelling which includes America, numerous European countries, Turkey and Thailand. Maybe I should become a drugs mule as I’ve obviously got an honest face!

Presumably this couple went through immigration and customs in BKK before getting the connecting flight to Samui which leads me to believe that Samui has more efficient security than BKK
