I haven't eaten beef in over 10 years here in Thailand. Just chicken and fish. But the last time I did eat any, it was Australian and it was just fine. Do the Australians feed their cattle antibiotics

Australian beef has fewer chemicals.

Beef doesnt have much flavour.

Lamb has a stronger, gamier, and earthier taste compared to beef, which is typically milder and more straightforward.

Fat Content: Lamb has a higher fat content, which contributes to its juiciness and flavor, while beef's flavor can vary depending on the cut and fat content.

Why is lamb so fatty when sheep are vegetarians?

Australia an Argentina are alleged to have the best beef in the world when it comes to 'mass production' The USA has good cheap beef and as an Aussie I hope it floods into Australia. The reason is simple - many years ago we had very cheap beef in Australia and the 'international p[arity pricing' became a thing.

The current costs of beef in Australia, where it used to be cheap, has soared over the last 3 decades - all because the big beef producers could get more if they sold it overseas so the Govt hacked up the prices for locals (subsidised the producers).  Hopefully the USA beef will drive the prices down in Australia at least to where it should be - 25-30% at least below where it is now.

synthetic chemicals such as artificial growth hormones (Bovine Somatotrophin Growth hormone & antibiotics).  Although, I personally am more concerned about the processed meat quality.  If you maize (corn) fed beef then that is okay, your preference.  But what really worries me is the allowable rat hair tolerances & faecal contamination (higher than allowed in UK & EU).  Due to the butchering machine (not being as skilled as human butchers) the resulting meat products get contaminated far more than human butchered carcasses.

I wonder if it's the fast food chains that will end up importing discount, low quality US beef. If it's a fast food chain, all you can taste is the grease anyway.

US raised beef has been imported since 2019, I don't recall seeing any US imported beef in Oz. The latest "deal' with Trump is for Mexican and Canadian cattle imported into the US and I assume then fattened  in US stock yards for slaughter.

More than 99% of beef available in Australian pubs, supermarkets and restaurants is Australian beef, says Meat and Livestock Australia. The industry body, as well as Cattle Farmers Australia and the National Farmers’ Federation, believe it’s unlikely the restriction change will have any significant material impact.

Dr Kate Sievert at Deakin University said US beef can’t compete with the strong domestic cattle industry.

She said it’s unlikely Australians could see more US beef on the supermarket shelf, but it could be used more in fast-food or prepackaged meals.

Interesting. So Trump needlessly antagonized Australia on behalf of Mexican and Canadian beef raisers.
