A luxury Mercedes-Benz vehicle belonging to a senior-ranking police officer was engulfed in flames at a Pattaya intersection in the early hours of the morning of 25 July. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

At approximately 02:40, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Centre received an emergency call reporting a car fire at the Rong Maikid intersection on Sukhumvit Road, Na Kluea subdistrict.

Rescue personnel and Pattaya City firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they were met with smoke and flames erupting from the engine compartment of a high-end vehicle. Initial attempts by bystanders to extinguish the blaze using a water hose from a nearby source were unsuccessful.

After 10 minutes of firefighting efforts, the fire was successfully brought under control. Preliminary investigations identified the vehicle as a Mercedes-Benz, with police uniforms and personal belongings inside, confirming that the car belonged to a senior police officer. The officer managed to escape the vehicle after noticing the smoke, avoiding injury.

Officers from Bang Lamung Police Station have launched an investigation into the incident and are working with forensic and fire investigators to determine the cause of the fire.

Poor cop, had some dodgy electrical work done at the local Somchai workshop, now his 12 year old Benz is scrap.

Did he not remain at the scene?  Were there awkward questions that needed answering?

This W212 was discontinued in 2013, 12 years ago. Hardly a luxury. More likely that it was broken and fixed in Somchai’s garage by the way how Somchai can do it. Result is on photo.
