Congratulations to the British Lions who have just beaten the Aussies infront of 90 thousand in the MCG, not just beat them but won the series with a game to spare. Not bad for a bunch of POMS, smashed on your home turf. Time for the Wallabies to go Walkabout.

Yeah I watched both games.

Wallabies aren't what they used to be.

I actually prefer the 6 Nations. 🏉

I thought the Wallabies were hard done by to a certain extent, especially because within the last 10 minutes of the game, there were three scrum collapses caused by one of the Lions dragging down his opponent and his elbow actually touched the ground first, so he should have been penalised for this, but he never was (on three occasions).

Add to that the cleanout by the Lions, which eventually led to the last try was clearly illegal and the sports commentators said as much, and the replays showed as much, however the referee decided there was nothing in it??

By the way I am not a Wallabies supporter, as I support the All Blacks, but the Lions side certainly looked good in both games.

We were also penalised towards the end xylephone with some dodgy decisions.

a lot of pro sports are rigged, but i don't watch the sport you're talking about.

good luck with your team next year.

The Australian scrum was under pressure for 80 mins, so I don't think it's likely that the Lions would deliberately collapse it (and do so 3 times!!).

As for the clear-out, as the ref said, both players arrived at the same time. Just because there was head contract doesn't necessarily mean that there was foul play.

Fair play to the Wallabies, they showed a lot of heart and were infinitely better than they were in the first test. However, the Lions are clearly the better team/ squad. Very few of the Aussies would make it into the Lions squad.

If its any Consolation the Kangaroos Rugby league team are touring the uk between Oct and Nov this year after a 22 year old Abscence. England or the G/B teams have never won a test series against the all Conquering Aussies home or away since 1970 and I can't see it changing this time. Although i will watch Union there are to many stop n starts for me.

Agreed.

Given that 9 of yesterday's starting XV - with two more coming off the bench -  were from the 'Emerald Isle' I think that Ireland deserves a mention.

I wasn't implying that the Lions deliberately collapsed the scrum, just that on three occasions the Lions player wasn't able to hold up, so his elbow went down on the ground and pulled one of the Wallabies down with him – – not a deliberate collapse but the Lions player certainly hit the ground first (or his elbow did).

On the subject of the clear out, I suggest you watch that again because the Australian player was certainly first at the breakdown when he was cleaned out by the Lions player, illegally so.

Anyway it makes no difference now because the game is played and finished, and I agree with you that very few of the Aussie players would make it into the Lions squad, this especially as they are going through a rebuilding period, which has taken quite a long time, probably far too long, since they have been a shadow of their former selves from years gone by.

Thats a good poin RayC t at the moment The Irish players will be picked more then the Brit, welsh, and Scots, players due to there dominence in the six nations.

Thanks, Barra. Nice to be able to agree about something.

Hopefully, the Lions will complete the clean sweep next week.

So all those Irish players in the Lions team are British Lions? #ignorant

The breakdown by nation, reflecting the most current squad after replacements due to injuries, is as follows:

  • England: 13 players
  • Ireland: 16 players
  • Scotland: 8 players
  • Wales: 1 player
  • Northern Ireland: 0 players

This is sad (a reflection on me, not you)😁. I flicked through the match again!

Re the scrum: I could only find 2 instances of the scrum collapsing (and I'm not replaying the match again to look for the third😂). On one occasion the ball was out before the scrum collapsed, so imo nothing to see there. However, you're right about the other instance. Porter went down. He also didn't engage square-on. Penalty would have been within kicking range, so the Lions definitely got away with one there.

Re the clear out. Again, you're right. The Aussie player got there fractionally before Morgan. However, the key word is 'fractionally'. Morgan was committed and I don't think that he could have pulled-out even if he had wanted to. I can understand why Schmidt feels aggrieved but, equally I think that Farrell would feel the same if the verdict had gone the other way.

Having said all that, you make the most pertinent point: It makes no difference now.

Roll on next Saturday.
