A violent late-night ambush by a gang of nearly 30 armed youths travelling in a white pickup truck left one teenager dead and three others seriously injured in Bang Si Mueang, Nonthaburi province. The shocking attack, which occurred around 02:30 on 3 August, also saw the victim stripped and dumped partially naked in the street, prompting public outrage and a major police investigation.

Officers from Bang Si Mueang Police Station, led by Pol. Col. Somchai Jaengthamma, arrived at the scene between Soi Bang Si Mueang 20 and Soi Bang Si Mueang 24, along with forensic experts and rescue workers.

The deceased, identified as 15-year-old ‘Tar’, was found lying in a pool of blood with his trousers pulled down and a stab wound to the chest. Two motorcycles were found nearby, one with Bangkok registration plates. A broken 10-inch knife blade was discovered 100 metres from the scene.

Another youth, aged 16, was found injured with a stab wound to his left wrist, while a third victim, ‘Q’, also 15, had been shot in the left leg. Both were taken to hospital by emergency responders.

Witnesses and friends of the victims told police the attack may have stemmed from an earlier attempt to settle a dispute over a girl. A group of five male youths and three girls had earlier met with the rival gang, allegedly to resolve tensions. The meeting ended peacefully and they parted ways. However, the rival group, travelling in the white pickup, is believed to have later returned to ambush a different group of the victims’ friends who had not been involved in the earlier meeting.

One witness, ‘Art’, aged 16, said the gang arrived heavily armed, with at least five firearms and numerous knives. He had returned home shortly after the meeting but was later informed by phone that his friends had been attacked.

‘Tang’, 17, claimed that the victim, Tar, had just left a small birthday gathering before being pursued and assaulted by the attackers. He stressed that Tar and his group had no involvement in the prior dispute.

‘Phet’, 16, emotionally recounted discovering Tar’s body stripped and dumped on the road. He also confirmed that others in the group had been seriously wounded.

A local food vendor, ‘Auntie Su’, 53, told reporters she had seen the white pickup chasing several motorbikes with two passengers each and had heard shouting along the road. She later discovered that the chase had ended in a fatal assault.

Pol. Col. Somchai stated that the preliminary investigation suggested the victims may have been targeted as they returned home, possibly mistaken for members of the group involved in the earlier confrontation. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed, and police are continuing to take witness statements.

The attack has sparked renewed concerns over gang violence among youths in Nonthaburi and the prevalence of weapons among teenage groups. Police are pursuing all leads to apprehend those responsible.

I'm sorry, but the parents of these children need to be responsible and get criminal charges for all that has happened here. Even this 16 year old boy. What parent lets his kid stay out until 230 for a meeting.

What kind of parents allows their teen to be at a birthday party until 230 am?

What about the 30 others that were most likely teens also. Police need to charge the parents of the injured and killed as well as the parents of the teens responsible. This problem with teens out so late causing mayhem and injuries is getting out of hand.

I am beginning to think the country needs to put a curfew on teens in Thailand to curb the violence and killings

It's becoming cheaper in Thailand by the day.
