Hanoi saw a vibrant display of military precision and national pride as nearly 16,000 officers and soldiers participated in a grand rehearsal for Vietnam’s upcoming military parade, marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day. This event, held on 5th August, showcases the country's strong military capabilities and patriotic spirit.

Sen. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Van Nghia, a key figure in the Vietnam People's Army, oversaw the drill aimed at honing performance and learning valuable lessons ahead of the main event. Beginning with a traditional torch relay and flag-raising ceremony, the rehearsal was nothing short of spectacular.

The parade featured an impressive array of military hardware, with tanks, armoured vehicles, missiles, artillery, and radar systems among the highlights. Many of these formidable machines, including the Truong Son missile system and XCB-01 infantry fighting vehicle, are the products of Vietnam's own defence industry, underlining the country’s growing technological capabilities.

Specialised police vehicles and equipment took centre stage as well, including anti-terrorism and multi-purpose tactical vehicles, illustrating the robust readiness of Vietnam’s Public Security forces.

Despite the scorching heat, the personnel demonstrated remarkable dedication and improvement, noted by Gen. Nghia. He highlighted the rehearsal’s significance as a political and social event eagerly awaited by the Vietnamese people and leadership, both domestically and abroad.

“The dedication and improved performance seen today are commendable,” said Nghia, pointing out the meticulous organisation and discipline in the preparations.

This year’s parade is distinctive for its inclusion, featuring 18 stationary and 43 marching formations, with nine of these exclusively comprising female troops and police officers, showcasing Vietnam's commitment to gender diversity in its armed forces.

The upcoming parade is more than just a display of military might. It is a powerful symbol of Vietnam's unity and resilience, celebrating the historical significance of the August Revolution and National Day. The thorough preparations and the involvement of diverse units accentuate the deep national pride that underpins this monumental event.

As the nation anticipates the grand spectacle, the dedication displayed in these rehearsals promises an unforgettable celebration of Vietnam’s revolutionary history and enduring strength.
