Featured Replies

Hi I plan on arriving in September Visa exempt,  I then intend to apply for non o retirement , have funds ect. My question is if I apply for this and its successful,  can  I apply for a reentry permit before my first 90day report ,as I may need to return to home country due to family members illness Thanks in advance,

your non O will only be good for 90 days, if you want to maintain it you will have to apply for an extension within your last 30 days. A reentry permit wouldn't do you any good without the non O extension.

1. Forget about 90 day report. Irrelevant.

2. Why obtain the Non O when you may be exiting Thailand.

Best to leave the Non O till a time when you can season the funds and apply for 12 month extension.

Yes you can obtain reentry permit to protect your 90 day Non O stamp.

Which immigration office?

yes, you apply for the non O with i believe 14 days left on your VE 60 day stamp, once issued you can get a re-entry permit

you can get a re-entry permit on any entry you make, be it 30 days, 60 days, 90days or a  one year permission to stay stamp

OP.... Here is a cut and paste of post I made in another thread.

Just advice on visa exempt to Non O

"A non O cost is 2000 baht.

Would require 800k in a Thai bank account in his name only on day of application.

Needs to show funds came from overseas.

Require some basic photocopies of PP.

Also a TM30 or rental agreement.

You will use a TM87 form.

Requires minimum 15 days remaining on current permission of stay.

21 days at eg CM, Phuket etc

Which immigration office will he use"

Some offices will not assist. Hence need to state immigration office.

You can get a reentry permit but it will only be as good as time permitted on your non O visa which is 90 days, so at 90 days the reentry permit would expire, you need to get an extension if possible before your departure, or risk having to come back in on visa exempt again.

If you don't already have a Thai bank account, I would strongly advice you to apply for the Non-O 90 days in your own country (or outside Thailand) before you arrive. It is almost impossible to open a Thai bank account on a visa exemption these days (unless using an agent), and you will need that for your financial requirements. Coming in on a 90 days Non-O visa, makes the process a piece of cake.
