A truck carrying timber collided at high speed into the rear of four vehicles stopped at a red light in Kui Buri district, Prachuap Khiri Khan on the morning of 12 August, killing the truck driver instantly and causing severe damage to the vehicles involved.

Police Sergeant Major Somphon Supapong of Kui Buri Police Station was alerted to the multi-vehicle rear-end collision at the Kui Buri traffic light intersection on the Bangkok-bound side. Officers from the highway police and rescue teams, including the Luang Pho Nai Kutti Foundation, rushed to the scene.

The truck, registered in Phetchaburi, crashed heavily into the back of a large coconut truck. The front of the truck was severely crushed and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Next to the coconut truck was a pickup loaded with school supplies, which had also been pushed forward but suffered no injuries among occupants.

The force of the impact trapped the trailer in the rear of the coconut truck, requiring a crane to separate the vehicles. Rescue crews then used hydraulic cutters to extract the driver’s body after nearly three hours of recovery efforts.

Also involved was a white Toyota Yaris, registered in Bangkok, which was stationary at the red light and was crushed in the pile-up. The damaged car was later towed to Kui Buri police station.

The Yaris driver, who escaped without injury, told reporters he heard a loud bang and was violently pushed into the truck in front. He credited sacred amulets he was wearing, two Luang Pu Thuat pendants, a coin of Prince Chumphon, a tiger leather talisman, and a ploughtail charm from his mother, for protecting him during the crash.

Police suspect the truck driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to try to determine the exact cause of the crash.

One has to believe in something.

Right now, I believe it's time for my breakfast.

Lucky charms didn't protect him from the accident, though.

You'd think all that powerful majik could have awakened the oncoming truck driver.............
