JD Vance could be fined for going fishing with David Lammy

Britain’s foreign minister went fishing with JD Vance. Now, he could be fined for it

London  —

Last week, British foreign minister David Lammy went fishing with US Vice President JD Vance at his retreat in the English countryside. Now, he could be fined for doing so.

Lammy on Wednesday referred himself to the UK’s environment watchdog for fishing without a rod license – an offense in Britain that could land him with a fine of £2,500 ($3,400).

“The foreign secretary has written to the Environment Agency over an administrative oversight that meant the appropriate licenses had not been acquired for fishing on a private lake as part of a diplomatic engagement at Chevening House last week,” a Foreign Office spokesperson said.

Why would you need a license to fish at a private lake?

Have people in the media still not understood that rules, fines, bureaucratic hassles are only for the commoners and definately never  or say very rarely enforced on politicians ?

You could have looked it up but I did if for you.🥱

You must have a rod fishing licence for England and Wales if you’re fishing for salmon, trout, freshwater fish, smelt or eel with a rod and line in:

  • England (except the River Tweed)
  • Wales
  • the Border Esk region, including the parts of the river that are in Scotland

This includes if you are fishing on private land, such as angling club waters or private fishing lakes.

That seems rather communist socialist if they're my fish (that I've paid for) in my pond on my land.

I understand requiring a license for fishing rivers crossing my land, or from my lakefront property on a public lake.

Edit:  That sounds like something that California or New York or New Jersey would require.  Is the UK losing their working people to ex-igration like those states?

And who is going to report you for fishing in your lake on your land? If you are only ever the one doing the fishing.

If it was communist socialist it probably wouldn't be a private lake?

Use jd for bait perhaps you could catch Nessie

Does anyone really think the UK is going to impose any fines on the VP of the United States? A first time warning perhaps, but fines? Too much grovelling and boot licking to be done.

Seems that vance inludes a holiday event in every diplomatic / serious diplomatic event he's involved in abroad.

Very ignorant man.
