Bangkok police have arrested a man and his girlfriend, accused of illegally selling e-cigarettes online after raiding a rented house used as a storage and distribution point.

On 12 August, officers from Investigation Division 3 of the Metropolitan Police executed a search warrant at a property in Lat Pla Khao 1 Alley, Lat Phrao district, following a tip-off that e-cigarettes were being sold via the Line messaging app, targeting students and young consumers.

The suspect, 37-year-old Mr Worawi, was the tenant of the house and assisted police during the search. Authorities seized 1,371 bottles of e-cigarette liquid, 509 disposable e-cigarettes, 199 refillable e-liquids and 30 vaping devices.

Mr Worawi has been charged under the Customs Act 2017 (Sections 244 and 246) with concealing, selling, transporting, or receiving goods that entered Thailand without proper customs clearance. His girlfriend was not charged.

Police warned that online sales of unregulated e-cigarettes remain illegal and encouraged the public to report similar activities.
