Changing password on True internet router

Featured Replies

Hi all, limited ability on computers but have some knowledge. Just wondering how involved it is to change my password on the router. Do I need an app or can I get to it from my computer somehow? (Windows 11 PC) or do I need to get True out? The router is high up on the wall can get the details if relevant but otherwise just a broad description of what to do would be great. Is it a DIY thing or I need to call True

It's easy, but the easiest way would be to call True and let them walk you through it step you step.  They are helpful that way, or used to be anyway.

I think I might have worked it out, logged onto the router ok, only thing is its a bit confusing to know if you are changing password to log on to the router or changing the password for users connection to WLAN on the router, there is an area to change passwords for both. I assume it is the WLAN security area though right? I have 2.4g connection for CCTV and 5g connection for general internet connection. I thought I maybe able to only change the password on the 5g so I don]t need to mess with CCTV connections and have to reset them too but looks like there is one password covering both connections. Does that sound right? Thanks so much for your advice 🙂

You can set a password for 2.4G and another one for 5G.

The password for the router (admin password) is not related to the passwords for accessing the internet via the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies.

What you're looking for will vary based on what model of router you have but on my True-supplied Huawei fiber optic router, it's in a section called 'Account Management.'

You should be looking for a section that says the account name is 'admin' and gives you boxes for setting a new password for that admin account.

In case it helps, on my router it looks like this (though as mentioned, it may look somewhat different if you have a different router).

You should be able to but may depend on his router model.

Well, that's not actually 100% clear. He said he wants to, "change my password on the router" - then he talks about how, "its a bit confusing to know if you are changing password to log on to the router or changing the password for users connection to WLAN on the router."

Anyway, it sounded to me like he probably wanted to change his password to log on to the router - but it's all rather jumbled, so you could be right and it's the SSID password(s) he wants to change.

I'm still not totally sure either way.

I  would   have thought that this statement was a fair indication.

" I thought I maybe able to only change the password on the 5g so I don]t need to mess with CCTV connections and have to reset them too but looks like there is one password covering both connections."
