Hun Sen Threatens Arrest of Thai Leaders Amid Border Dispute

Hasn’t Hun Sens army been planting land mines along the border lately ?
He is a dangerous and  crazy man and not to be trusted. The Thais know this, they’ve had enough proof over the years. Yes, anyone would be worried with such a neighbor. Keep the borders closed and forbid Thais from entering the disputed temples.  For everyone’s safety and to avoid flair ups.

Look at his past it say a lot about him.

, as yourself this, why would Cambodia place mines on Thai territory....it makes no sense as Thai military is much larger than Cambodia's...as one mine shown by Thailand, still had the safety pin in...

Sorry dude, hate to break it to you but there are zero independent journalists in the world, everyone has an agenda.

"why would Cambodia place mines on Thai territory....it makes no sense as Thai military is much larger than Cambodia's"
Um, that's what mines are for. Asymmetric warfare against larger opponents.

"still had the safety pin in..."
You think they're gonna pick up a live mine and photograph it for the press? They were deactivated.

It shows Cambodian soldiers being instructed in how to arm the mines, and photos of them planting the mines in the ground. Since it was taken by a phone, everything is dated. More material was allegedly found on the phone this was on, but everything isn't being shared with the public.

Did you actually read that story...mysterious phone found, had to put battery in it, for soldiers planting mines, they are very clean, nicely maintained uniforms...

The only mystery is how you believe it...555

OMG, you are one eyed biased towards whatever Thailand says...at least I look at both sides.

This is so childish. Why can't the Cambodians and Thais learn to conduct themselves like adults, just look at how Donald Trump and his opponents deal with each other, with respect and dignity, legal actions are neither threatened nor pursued.

Oh wait...

Yes, but please issue the paddles, as the engine has not been fitted to date.

It's literally a video and photos of Cambodian soldiers preparing and planting mines... Evidence doesn't get clearer than this. Before this, Thailand has confiscated numerous mines from abandoned Cambodians camps, and a Cambodian journalist took a picture of Cambodian soldiers posing at Ta Qwai temple, with illegal mines clearly shown in the background.

It's proven beyond all doubt that Cambodia is using these illegal, Russian mines. No amount of ridiculous Cambodian propaganda is going to change that.

And to pre-empt any additional nonsense, one of the Cambodian soldiers in the video has been identified as a Cambodian soldier who has patrolled the border region before. In other words, it's not Thai people in disguise, it's just Cambodian soldiers doing exactly what they've been accused of.

Stop spreading this easily disproven Cambodian propaganda. The images and videos from the event clearly showed two types of mines: new ones with the pin and disarmed ones without it. When Cambodian media reported on it, they intentionally only included the images of the new mines.

In a dramatic twist, Cambodia's Senate President Hun Sen has threatened to arrest Thai leaders for invading Cambodian territory and causing the deaths of its citizens.

Well, at least everyone in the government is safe ,,   'cause they sure are not leaders

Additionally, one of the soldiers in the photos and video has now been identified as Cambodian lieutenant Seng, who is well-known among the soldiers patrolling the border area.

In regard to his clean uniform, you'll have to ask him yourself what kind of detergent he prefers. But as you can see, he's wearing the exact same, equally clean uniform in comparison photo where he's posing with other soldiers.

Aside from the illegal mines, they are also seen creating spike traps in the ground, in breach of the Geneva Convention.

Even better they step on a mine. The supreme Shin can then nurse his injuries in the police hospital suite .

Khmer Rouge will never change

And Thailand uses cluster munitions.

Your point caller?

Allied with the Thais after the Vietnamese kicked them out in 1979. Fought a Guerrilla war from Thailand (Pol Pot protected by Thai SF at his house in Trat) and they laid thousands of mines along the Western border area (at one point the most densely mined area in the World). Bit ironic that.

Thailand (and the US) backed the Khmer Rouge as the legitimate government of Cambodia at the UN even after the genocide was exposed.

Those cowards wouldn’t put themselves anywhere near danger.

They would happily see Thai soldiers die on the border to cover up their own corruption and direct attention away from the myriad of criminal charges they face though. Of that you can be sure.

There’s a reason squarehead and Hun Sen were best mates. Birds of a feather.

Cluster munitions are not illegal and Thailand has been open about using them strictly against military targets.

Irrelevant...but I guess you can't think of anything intelligent to say...well, goodbye, have a nice day.

Cluster munitions are some of the nastiest weapons out there. They are highly indiscriminate.

This means civilians are at risk if they are within the strike zone.

It is impossible to use them "strictly against military targets".

See my post above:

  • International ban: The 2008 Convention on Cluster Munitions prohibits their use, production, transfer, and stockpiling. Over 110 countries are parties, but some major military powers have not signed.

There is no "international ban". I'd advise you to stop spreading misinformation, and definitely stop relying on AI to argue for you – it just proves you don't know what you're talking about. The Convention on Cluster Munitions is a voluntary convention that some countries have signed, which means they are not allowed to use them. Many other countries have not signed it, and are therefore allowed to use them, including Thailand.

There's also another specific country that has not signed this convention. Can you guess which one? That's right, Cambodia. If Cambodia believes cluster munitions shouldn't be used, why haven't they signed the convention? Can you really complain about its use if you want to keep the right to use them yourself?

The Ottawa Treaty on mines, however, has been signed by both Thailand and Cambodia, and Cambodia is still using them to mutilate Thai soldiers and make the border region incredibly dangerous for normal people, despite having received international support to demine the area for years. They have also been caught digging spike traps, in breach of the Geneva Convention.

Don't get me wrong, I wish no countries used cluster munitions. But Cambodia can't refuse to sign the convention themselves, and then complain about other countries using cluster munitions against them.
