I've been smoking weed, on and off, for the past 30 years. Never had an urge to go anything stronger, neither had any of people I know that smoke.

The difference in Thailand is that the top dogs are linked to or actually police, army or politicians as opposed to drug gang overlords. As a result, mega-profits are balanced with long-term sustainability of the business. The business would not be sustainable in the long term if society was controlled by violent gangs as in Nicaragua, Guatemala, Ecuador, etc. with all the concomitant crime.

I believe that 99.99999% tried/used ALCOHOL before "weed", so should

we call ALCOHOL "The PATHWAY" to weedgate/drugs?(booze is a drug).

Yaba, ketamine, and other chemical drugs consumption was already booming before weed became (more or less) legal.

 

The big advantage of legal weed versus illegal weed is that, unlike drug dealers, weed shops don't try to convert weed customers into more lucrative hard drug consumers.

Actually, alcohol used for partying in clubs can be the first step leading to chemical party drugs, without transiting throught smoking weed (which is not suitable for dancing all night long).
