Police in Bangkok are investigating a family stabbing after a meal-time argument between three brothers ended in violence.

The incident happened at around 21.40 on 19 August in Soi Chalong Krung 13, when officers from Chalong Krung Police Station were called to a reported altercation involving a knife.

Rescue workers from Poh Teck Tung Foundation found a 31-year-old man with a stab wound about 4cm deep to his left chest and a cut above his left eyebrow. The victim, named as Mr. Chainarong, was conscious and able to respond as he was taken to hospital.

Police said the attacker, his elder brother Mr. Weerachai, 35, remained at the scene and surrendered himself immediately. A third brother, the youngest sibling, was present but not involved and escaped injury.

The three men, originally from Ubon Ratchathani province, had been working as labourers for a contractor renovating a barbecue restaurant in the area. They had been living in tents at the site.

According to initial witness accounts, the stabbing erupted following an argument during a shared meal when heated words were exchanged.

Police Sub-Lieutenant Natthaphon Lertdecha, the investigating officer, confirmed that Mr. Weerachai was in custody. No charges had yet been filed as officers continue to take testimony and review evidence.
