Do you stand aghast at the Chemistry you have forgotten?

Speaking of things left TOO LATE.....

aa.  As I recall, a few years ago, I mentioned to you that I missed out on a great opportunity to have a fling with my best friend's mother, when I was seventeen.

bb. And not, I do not wish to miss out on my final opportunity to re-learn, and recall, my Chemistry, of my college years.

cc.  THIS is the main reason I have decided to invest a bit of time on the MIT website....  EVEN IF it might mean that I will, so sadly, be unable to spend as much time, as usual, posting my useless Topics on TV.

dd.  Still, when all is said and done, one must do what is best for oneself, rather than the majority, on TV.

ee.  I hope that readers here will forgive me, and my decision to spend my time on even more worthwhile pursuits....such as CHEMISTRY.....which I know is near and dear to your heart.

ff.  This evening, I have experienced just so much ANGST, about my missed opportunity to screw my best friend's mother that....now that I am in the twilight of my years, according to Sinatra, I must take the bull by the horns, and just buckle down, and use the free source at MIT, to listen to the lectures, and do all of the suggested exercises, in order to preserve my mind, while there is still time.

gg. You are a great speller.  And, facetiousness aside, the ability to spell accurately, and effortlessly, is a sign of one having a decent memory capacity.

I am one of the worst spellers on TV, as you have rightfully made clear, and I DO agree.

It might be too late for me to become a great speller.

Yet, if I work hard given the free resources available to me on the MIT website...then....

I will be able to, one day.....

HOLD MY HEAD HIGH.....

Please wish me luck, Sir....

a. I missed out screwing my best friend's wife at age 17.

b. MIT is still waiting for me, after all these years.

c. If I work hard, I can still recall all that I have lost, these past decades.

d. Please, if anything.....

GIVE ME A WORD of ENCOURAGEMENT......

All is not lost, at our age, if only we will have faith and remain full of optimism.

You and I can set an example and a HIGHER-BAR for the other posters on TV.

What say you?

Don't do her course....is my BEST advice....

There are two better courses in first year Chemistry at MIT....as everybody knows.....

The video attached seems to be for NON-CHEM Majors.....

Si jeunesse savait, si veilleuse pouvait.

You are not alone in missing out on screwing opportunities. Quite a few times in my youth I got signals I failed to read, out of inexperience.

Do you find yourself thinking of the decision forks in your life, and how different your life would have been, had you chosen differently? I do.

Example: I remember a young Thai woman at the roadside along the river in Chiang Mai who stopped me, begging for money. She told me in quite passable English she had been kicked out by her husband's family, her mother in law hated her and made her life hell. She was trying to get back to her family in Mae Hong Son.

I gave her a couple of hundred baht, and rode off on my scooter. I sometimes wonder what might have happened if I had taken her back to my condo instead.

She may have been telling the truth, or scamming me. I'll never know.

I believe all young boys, at least the budding boy-Scientists, dream, at an early age, of concocting things that go BOOM.

It's in their nature.

My fellow-alum Elon was just the same.

And now, he has.

Remember Breaking Bad, when Jesse Pinkman combined the right acid with the wrong bath material?

I recall well my liking for the first episodes of Breaking Bad.

I thought this series very well done.

However, after a while, it seemed to me that the quality became degraded a bit.

Still, a very good show.

I do NOT recall any particulars, probably, once again, due to me poor memory.

But, I can tell you some good news:

Could you listen to this for long?

I might be OLD-SCHOOL, but I prefer a male prof for Chemistry, and a female prof for Sex-Education....

I don't care, as long as he or she could teach.

All alchemists gladly make gum in gallon tanks.

Very few female scientists are awarded the NOBEL, in the natural sciences, just for being black or female.....

Give me a Feynman type lecture, any day.....

Someday, all this craziness will end.....

I will NOT take this woman's course.....

I would rather listen to.....

Natural Science at the highest level is NOT for women.

Don't ask me why, but it just is NOT.

It's no secret that very few women can measure up at this highest level.

It's like trying to put a square peg in a round hole.

Obviously, MIT is now being run by dumb administrators instead of professors.

The hens are ruling the roost.

There is really no point in being Politically Correct if one also needs to bend the truth.

No.

I am NOT intimidated by smart women.

Here is just one example:

Take the development of the CRISPR-Cas9 System...which is truly groundbreaking.

image.png.5741a3c410c60488f9a8a373aae97f27.png

Note:  I prefer male uni instructors for the Natural Sciences.  However, I tip my cap to any woman instructor who has her own stash of Japanese Chalk.

Note2:  After checking further, the Freshman Chem Class available on OpenCourseWare seems to be taught by both male and female instructors.  Nobody likes to teach these huge freshman courses. It's an obligation and one of the chores tolerated by the true top-level researchers at MIT, and other great schools.

CRISPR has become a very hot topic during recent years.  And, the girls who developed this technology are two hot cookies, IMHO.

So, bottom line:  I am still OK with the MIT online Chem courses offered by MIT.

Still, MEN are just better at this, although not ALL men.

Final Note:  I love those scarves the girls are sporting....  Reminds me of Isodora Duncan, even....

It's not pathetic at all how you try to portray yourself in this way.

I know.

Truly it's a difficult challenge just to keep you entertained.

I met a girl who complained that school was "too theoretical".

She quit college and went to cooking school.

Maybe I should have done the same.

There will be a quiz at the end of the week.

What do Bill Withers and Einstein have in common?

There are some women who find out, just too late in life, that a woman's place is in the kitchen.

Cooking is all about Chemistry.

I found a smart one....finally.....

Also, you will be happy to know that....

THESE DAYS....

Biology, freshman year, is all about bonding.

Bonding and Chemistry, with no cooking.

This teacher is my style, for sure....

She is cooking with gas....plenty of good energy.....

And a great voice I am happy to listen to.

Since you say you missed out on biochem, there are other courses for you at MIT.

Return to your youth.

Stop wasting your time on the links....

As one of the online courses that I teach, I'm currently teaching Chemistry to some young students in China.  I use the Glencoe text book from National Geographic. It seems a popular and well-written course book.

I am not sure about Chemistry, however an excellent book for Biology at the Grade-10 or Grade-11 levels, and one which is beautifully written, with amazing illustrations, and one in which the core concepts are thoughtfully and accurately presented, must be the BEST BIO BOOK OF ALL TIME......

image.png.b352cfe4c3495b4ea3c02efc6b1365fd.png

Yes.

Campbell Biology, Concepts & Connections...

Suitable for HS Biology, with a good presentation of the chemistry required to understand the cell.

image.png.8cd332f02201ae4f1f0abe84ef9a7eaf.png

I think the newest version is probably version 12.

There is also a Campbell Biology textbook, more advanced than this one, that is more suited to first-year college biology, or, maybe AP Biology in grade 12 of HS.

Anyway, these Campbell books are just incredibly well written, and garbage is not included.

PEARSON publishes great stuff.

I had never heard of the National Geographic science textbooks.

This book seems to be published by McGraw Hill.

There are other science series such as this one, Biology, for example, which are also designed for low-level and inclusion classrooms.

No doubt useful for ESL learners of science and science vocabulary.

By the way....

Some of you might question why I would post such a great Topic as this in the Farang Pub.

Surely, the answer must have occurred to most readers here.  The answer directly relates to the terrible deterioration, post-pandemic, of the content being coughed up by Google’s YouTube site.  Yes, my friends, you, too, must be feeling the negative impact of degraded content on YouTube, every time you click on your YouTube feed. I dare say, this might even be some conspiracy aimed at turning our minds to mush, just so we will be lulled into complacency, as Google plans to have Gemini take over the world, and reduce humans to house cats, just to paraphrase my fellow alum, Elon. Elon stated he, for one, did not wish to become a house cat, controlled by Google’s AI.

Although I am not that interested in re-learning what MIT is teaching, still, watching MIT content five hours per day, on average, might be the only way to save our sanity.

I am OK with female instructors at MIT, most of them. One of the only reasons I mentioned my preference for male instructors is that I find some of the girls at MIT just too distracting. Yes, perhaps, I am more over-sexed than most freshmen at MIT, but, when the girls are lecturing me at MIT…I find myself too distracted.  And sometimes, I do catch myself mentally undressing them, or wondering what kind of undergarments they might be sporting, hidden underneath. Truly, this is just too disconcerting and distracting. And this is not MY fault. I am only human.

So, there is that…..!!!!

And, I often do not prefer the voices of some female lecturers, as I feel that some seem to be screaming at me, or screeching is more the word.

I have noticed that the girls I prefer at MIT, meaning the lecturers, are the ones that come from the UK.  They have very refined voices, and their use of English is proper in every way.

Let me give you just one example.  I have found the perfect lecturer for me to keep me away from YouTube. Apparently, she has a degree from the UK, as well as a degree from MIT. I like her voice, and I love her command of English. She has plenty of energy, too. And, her curls remind me of those of Sir Issac Newton, to boot…!!!!

image.png.610795eb38734caf4fc35eaf54e92e01.png

I know that I am going to be happy listening to her lecture me, and I feel satisfied with my choice. But, concerning Chemistry, I don’t think there is another woman as good as she. Although, for sure, she knows a heck of a lot of Chemistry, in her own right.

==========

Please believe me.

I know that of which I speak.

I have already watched three of her lectures….

She's Great....!!!

===========

IMPORTANT Note:  Please stop with the YouTube. Don’t say I did not warn you when the robots come to carry you away….

Is it not high-time for most of us here to turn over a new leaf, before it’s too late?

Final-Final Note:  Regarding Chemistry lecturers and Hiding Under Desks...

Some do, but most do not.
