An Indian tourist in his 30s or 40s was left in a critical condition after nearly drowning while swimming off a Pattaya Beach on the evening of 24 August.

The incident occurred around 20:00, near a hotel access point on Kasetsin Road, Pratumnak Hill. Witnesses said the man, who has not yet been identified, had entered the sea but soon appeared to be in difficulty after suffering severe cramps.

Beach chair attendants spotted the tourist struggling in the water and shouted for help from nearby beachgoers. Several bystanders rushed into the sea and managed to pull the man to shore. He was found unconscious with a weak pulse.

Emergency rescue workers from Sawang Boriboon Foundation, together with an emergency medical team, performed CPR and administered first aid on the beach before transporting him to Pattaya City Hospital.

Police officers attended the scene and recorded evidence. Initial investigations suggest the tourist was overcome by muscle cramps while swimming and was unable to keep himself afloat.

Authorities said the swift response of nearby beachgoers likely saved the man’s life. He remains in hospital under close medical care.
