Do you ever worry you might have an extra X or Y Chromosome?

Featured Replies

Dear Folks,

I am not sure whether or not it might just be a symptom of my paranoia….

But, sometimes I worry that I might have an extra X or Y chromosome.

When I look in the mirror, I seem normal.

Yet, still, lurking inside, and since I have never been tested, could it be that I have an extra X or Y?

When I was young, and watching the female weightlifters from Russia, we would laugh at the women with obvious beards.

Still, as I say, looking in the mirror, I don’t have a beard like those Russian women, those so-called female weighlifters, back in the day.

One of the main reasons I bring this up, at this present moment, is because I am taking a course from MIT in Genetics and Inheritance.  It’s a great course.

As to what female Russian Weightlifters, back in the day, might look like:

And you can judge for yourselves just what their genetic endowment must have been.

By the way:  Have you ever dated a Russian weightlifter like this?

Back in the day, during the 1960s, the controversy was all the rage....

Otherwise, how could these women be so strong?

They took the prize, for sure, back in the day, at the Olympics...but....

Did they have extra chromosomes helping them?

And then, they were forced to be tested for any chromosomal anomalies…and then….the controversy intensified.

Those were the days when men were men, and women were NOT ALLOWED to compete with men in the Olympics, or in collegiate sports.

Women, those days, were much more powerful.....

I wish it were the same, today.

I love powerful women.

GO TRUMP!!!!

Best regards,

Gamma (YX-THX-1138)

PLEASE NOTE:  Not being sure....(If I were a man or a girl).... I ALMOST CUT MY HAIR......I feel.....

SOMEDAY.....

I hope I get myself together.....

When and if....

I FINALLY get myself together....

Down in that southern weather.....

That's testosteron and growth hormons from bulls balls 😂😉

Of course also genetics 🧬

Nothing anyone should worry about, unless you need hormon therapy to feel better

Bulbous Balls, I think you mean.

Bulls Balls are what hang off of RED-NECK's Trucks, in places like Texas....

You should probably have opted for the diploma in lesbian dance theory. That way you wouldn't have to think too mut. :coffee1:

Too late.....

One of "us" is changing.....

And, I am not sure which.

Is it my man or my woman inside me that will get the better of me....finally....

An extra chromosome!!!!

Wouldn't it be X Y Z for males?

Or are you saying 2 x X and a Y, or 2 x Y and a X?

NO.

If you were to calculate the number of YOUR chromosomes, which is probably atypical and not representative of the genome of most humans, you might come up with a very ODD number.

You would need to first count the functional centromeres in each of your cells...

You add up the number of your centromeres, and then this would equal the number of chromosomes you might or might not have.

I guess you also know about diploid and haploid cells.

Didn't your mother ever tell you about this when you were young?

Anyway, most of us have either an egg or a sperm cell, with 23 chromosomes.

When you add the sperm to the egg then you get back to 46 chromosomes, which is normal.

BUT, what I am saying is that there are cases where some of us might have some unwanted Y chromosomes, or X chromosomes.

When this happens, then there is a problem.

The problem is called:  Klinefelter Syndrome, in some cases

At times I feel like I have an additional cell or two.

Instead of 40 trillion, maybe 40 trillion and one (or two) 😊

If you had bigger cells, then you would not need so many.

It appears that in Thailand an exceptionally high number of men are quite effeminate. And quite a few women are quite masculine in appearance. I call that the roving chromosome.

I suspect the OP would like to be a hermaphrodite.

It would save him time and money.

Based on what you say it is quite normal for some one who is paranoid and delusional to think like that. Try getting some psychological help, you need it.

Do you ever worry you might have an extra X or Y Chromosome?

Nope.  But I'm sure you as well as the other well known hypochondriacs on the forum probably do.  Here's one to dwell on:

Do you ever worry you might have intestinal worms?

Instead of worrying about something that has a minuscule statistical occurrence - in the case of extra chromosome it's less than 0.2%, - worry about something that has close to a 10% occurrence - like having intestinal worms "Ewwwww!"

In the meanwhile, seek professional psychological help.

AI answers the question  Why do some people ever worry about having an extra X or Y Chromosome?

People worry about an extra X or Y chromosome due to the increased health risks and potential development issues associated with Klinefelter syndrome (XXY), 48,XXYY syndrome (XXYY), and other sex chromosome aneuploidies, such as infertility, cardiovascular issues, type 2 diabetes, and sometimes developmental delays. While many individuals are unaware they have these conditions, genetic testing can detect them, and early intervention and support can help mitigate health problems and improve quality of life.

Don't worry about things you can't change

I have always found Geert Hofstede's work fascinating, especially his metrics POWER DISTANCE, and INDIVIDUALISM-COLLECTIVISM...

Perhaps we can talk about this in more depth, provide I begin a NEW TOPIC about Hoftede's interesting work....

However, another metric is MASCULINITY-FEMININITY....

And, low variation seems to promote harmony, which is a good thing.

It does NOT mean that men are women, however.
