Why? The name on my SIM matches the name on my account. My mobile app works fine and I am not restricted to transfers of 50,000 or less.

My name on SIM matches the name on the account. Still, they recently blocked my banking app without any advance notice because I have a new passport now and the passport number was not matching the one registered with SIM anymore. That was with Kasikorn though.

Only the bank app was frozen?

They'll get round to you eventually.

Why not be proactive and fix it now before it becomes an issue?

Didn't they give April 30th as the deadline to correct any errors/update details, which would have led to the app being suspended? Or could it happen at any time?

Because there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Even the Kasikorn information page contradicts itself. Starts off saying names must match on SIM and account then further down states that names and passports should match. It also states that only accounts opened in the previous two years are affected. If my account is frozen I will sort it out.

Had two ladies from the bank come to my house a few days back offering a fixed term deposit account at 4%. That would suggest they are happy with my details.

There's no benefit in being proactive in Thailand. If you comply with the current requirements this month, they might still spring some new requirements on you next month.

There's no lack of reports from people who went into their bank to make sure everything is in order a few months ago, only to be called in again for another document check or whatever.

I keep seeing posts from you trying to nail down every little detail based on what a poster has said in multiple threads. As we used to say dotting the i's and crossing the t's back in the west.......however you may want to consider TIT and as such often that is not possible.

Whilst a good trait to have in a developed country it is not always so useful here. See @Caldera 's post above this (although I don't necessarily agree with not trying to be pro active).

The simplistic answer is yes.

That's not contradictory, it's the situation developing.  Initially it was name and passport number was added later.  Just now it's 2 years but once they're all dealt with it could be more.

Of course it's completely your choice and maybe it's just my mindset that says do it now as you don't know what your circumstances will be when/if the hammer falls.  If a hopefully short term frozen account will cause you no issues then you could be right.

Happy today.  As I'm sure you realise, that could change tomorrow, next month or at any time if you get on "the list".
