A 36-year-old woman was brutally murdered by her husband in a jealous rage before he attempted to destroy evidence by burning her body in a rubber plantation in Loei Province.

Police Lieutenant Chai Phich Chaimongkol, deputy investigating officer at Tha Li Police Station, received a report at 16:30 on 30 August of a body found burning in a rubber plantation at the rear of Ban Buak Ang, Khok Yai Subdistrict. Due to heavy rain, slippery roads and the remote, mountainous location, it took officers more than an hour to reach the scene.

Authorities found body of the victim, Mrs. Chanthira, 36, of Village 2, Khok Yai Subdistrict, badly burned in the plantation. Preliminary examinations were conducted by medical personnel, while police collected evidence for further investigation.

Subsequent inquiries identified the perpetrator as her husband, Mr. Sarawut, 36. He was arrested at his home and brought to Tha Li Police Station for questioning.

Mr. Sarawut admitted to the killing, stating that he had longstanding marital issues and feared his wife was seeing someone else. Following an argument, he used a 90cm long knife to fatally attack his wife before moving her body to the plantation and setting it on fire to conceal the crime. Police later conducted a reconstruction of the scene in accordance with his confession.

Authorities have charged him with murder, concealing and moving a corpse and carrying a knife in public without lawful reason. He is now in custody pending further legal proceedings.

You ask for a lot. I do not think this has anything to do with being a good or bad husband. However, I do think he has issues with controlling himself and acting out on his violent thoughts.

Who is to say the marital issues were because he was a bad husband? Perhaps she was a bad wife. Nowadays, Thais seem to have no control over their emotions when there is anger present. Stabbings, shootings, and other ways or killing or maiming seem to happen on a daily basis all because of an argument or misunderstanding.

Funny how the default is always to blame the man for marital woes when it's just as likely to be the woman's fault.
