It should be like this:

No, prenuptial agreements are not automatically legally binding in the UK, but courts will give them weight if they are entered into freely, with full understanding, and without unfairness. A landmark Supreme Court ruling in 2010 allows courts to consider these agreements, though the final decision on fairness and enforceability rests with the judge on a case-by-case basis.

If you have other law-binding information, please show it here.

To be honest that couldn't be further from the truth.

  • Yeah they do, all the time. First action their solicitor tells them to do, down the police station and report him for threatening, child abuse, stalking. Gets the guy removed from the house

Nope, it´s not what you posted. You posted that they are law binding, while they are not. That courts will give them weight if they are:

Entered into freely: How do you prove that!
With full understanding: So, just to play a bit dumb then, right?

Without unfairness: Yeah, this a judge might be able to decide, unless they will address the weight of one parent taking care of the child, or that a woman´s age will prevent her from future income etc.

You know, there will just be too many variables to deal with.

Wrong!

I said that they were valid but not automatically enforceable.

Nowhere did I say they were "law binding" (whatever that means).

Please refrain from misquoting me.

we dodged that bullet like real men we are. a real man boom boom a lot - but sleep alone.

I remember reading a story once. Don't know how true. It might not even be possible today. About a guy in a similar situation. he stopped paying the mortgage and dragged it out while squirrelling the mortgage money away. When it came to the lawyer asking for half the house, which was by now due to be repossessed, he told the lawyer that the wife was also liable for half the debt. i think he managed to negotiate a better settlement for himself, paid off the debt and kept the house.

There's a reason divorces are so expensive...it's because they're worth it!

No one runs behinsd a garbage truck ! I can assure you of that, collections are now restricted and minimal, they are ALL automated and wheelie bins. They have to be placed in exactly the right lerbside position or fines can be imposed.

So all the operators have to do is wheel it about max 2 meters to the truck and the rest os hydraluic.

Gone are the days of carrying and throwing mate.

In Australia the garbage truck driver doesn't have to grt off his bum in the truck. The Wheelie bins are placed on the kurb and the hydraulic arm picks it up and empties it. It's been like that for 30 years so I think this story is a fantasy.

He couldn't afford to retire this a 2 week holiday in Pattaya

Anyway he spoke to me about his divorce at aged 58 yo , very very heartbroken story he lost 50% of his assets, house was sold

but..she forced him to take a low offer for a quick sale losing  him 50,000 pounds as she wanted a quick sale as it took a long time to sell apparently

"Oh if she had just waited...just waited he said we could of got higher offers !!!

I cried ...I really did ....I could feel the emotion in his voice as he told me he would have to work until 67 pension age

Trying to run behind a garbage truck at that age

All he could afford was a 1 bedroom flat you buy to live in the UK now

45 years of working down the drain because of DIVORCE !!!!!!

He worked 2 jobs at one stage to provide for her

Her lawyer forced  he  said of everything ,even his lawyer said fo it me ,just sell the house !

The bloodsucker lawyers took a lot

They were apparently all friends he said ,her lawyer his lawyer they all just said to mediation and agree

I was devastated listening to him

A house in the country they had in a rural city lost it all

I had to ask him though "do you have palm trees in your rural city in the northern part of the UK which unfortunately threw him off track and he stopped talking to say no we don't !!! Rudely

And I  left that night from our meeting to play sad songs in my hotel room in Jomtien crying

I even had a friend from Australia call me on WhatsApp to ask if I'm ok

Most people have sadness in their lives, to a greater or lesser degree. Best to try not to dwell on it though.

Never marry a woman you cannot divorce amicably.

While it sounds like a joke it's not.  After a few months of dating you should be able to tell if the woman you are with is vindictive enough to drag you or if she's self-sufficient enough to say "Fk U"

I married at 28 to a woman who was like this.  When things went sour at 35 we decided to call it quits.  I had to split the bank account with her.
My divorce cost me $500.  We went on a Wednesday morning and then went for pancakes after.

Dated a girl for 11 years with some overlap to that divorce.  When the time came for us to call it quits, I was traveling quite extensively throughout Asia.  I was in Tokyo photographing fashion week and she asked me when I was coming back.  I told her I didn't know.  We ended it on that phone call.   We organized the move out of our California apartment long distance, I paid for the movers to move everything, Cost me about 2K but the key was that I had a safe that had about $15K cash and a cache of gold and silver numismatics.  I needed to make sure I got that safe and that gold when I returned to the US.  She picked me up from the airport in San Diego and I got my pinché safe and my old gold.

Married a Thai woman in 2020.  She is the keeper.  I'd never consider leaving her.  She has insisted that we keep everything we have as individuals.  No shared bank accounts, no shared leases, no shared property or cars.  She is not financially more well off than me she just told me that If I ever broke her heart, it's over and she wants no drama or anything to drag out

Guys who get fk'd in relationships ignored the warning signs before, and during the relationship.  Then they act like it came out of left field while everyone else is like...no we saw that coming the day you married her and she embarrassed you in front of your guests.

Marriage is not solely for physical needs. Spiritual and mental aspirations too .
a close buddy or companion to share life with and to grow old together.

I divorced at 58. But planned it for 3 years, there were hard decisions to make.

First, wait until son was 18. Then kids could not be used against me in the divorce.

Second what to do with the house? Selling it would start a fight. But i wouldn't need a house in Thailand.

Third, pensions. At 58 my working life was over, had been made redundant. My ex-wife was younger and had a much shorter period of pensionable employment; splitting pensions would mean my pension would be substantially reduced.

Fourth, didn't want to squander money on lawyers, so did a do it yourself divorce; only cost a couple of hundred.

The answer was to give house to wife, but we keep our pensions separate. Also the house would eventually go to my 2 UK kids.

Wife jumped at the offer - greed.

I retired to Thailand, never have to work again. Ex-wife is still working 15 years later, at 67 because she has a lot of bills to pay and not much cash..... a nice house, but too big for her.

Planning.

I get divorced from my thaiwife 7-8 year ago.We stayed in my country then.Easy thing to do.

Logged in to the government site used bank id.Filed for divorce. We did it together.Get approved separation the next day Waited 12 months and filed the final divorce.Approved the same day.My exwife took the documentation to the ministry of foreign affairs in Bangkok.Divorce registrated and approved in Thailand after 10 minutes.

Will never ever get married again. My exwife tried to get some money and other values from me 2-3 years after we divorced but she was to late. She did a big mistake when she remarried here. She lost all rigths to a widow pension after im gone.Only my kids will get that.
