A domestic dispute erupted into a horrific shooting spree in the early hours of 3 September, leaving a mother-in-law dead, three relatives injured and the suspected perpetrator dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The incident unfolded at a home in Khlong Luang district after a man, identified as 35-year-old Kiattisak, allegedly discovered that a long-running secret conversation between himself and his wife’s younger sister had been exposed.

According to initial police investigations, the man’s wife, 26-year-old Nantnaphat, had confronted her husband about the two-year clandestine communication with her sister. A meeting to “clear the air” was arranged for earlier in the week in Ayutthaya province, but the husband failed to appear.

Later, on the night of the incident, the wife’s mother, 46-year-year-old Mrs. Tassanee, along with her uncle and younger sister, had returned to the family home in Pathum Thani.

In a chilling final phone call, Kiattisak reportedly contacted his wife as she was driving home. He allegedly told her to “come look after their child because he had killed everyone at the house,” before a gunshot was heard. The wife rushed home to discover the devastating scene.

Police, led by Superintendent of Khlong Ha Police Station Pol Col Rungrawee Sookung, arrived at the residence to find a table with alcohol and snacks outside. Inside the property, they found Mrs. Tassanee deceased with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.

Three other victims were found injured: 43-year-old Chaiwat, the wife’s uncle, who was shot in the head, the wife’s sister, also shot in the head and another man, Anurak. All three were rushed to Khlong Luang Hospital in serious condition.

The body of the alleged assailant, Kiattisak, was discovered in the driver’s seat of a parked lorry near the house, with a gunshot wound and a firearm lying beside him. Police are treating his death as a suicide.

The couple had been together for seven years and have a five-year-old son, who was found unharmed sleeping in a cot inside the house during the attack.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage and collecting forensic evidence to fully establish the sequence of events. The victims' bodies have been transferred to Thammasat University Hospital.
