Authorities in Chonburi have raided a cannabis shop, seizing over 20 kilograms of dried cannabis flowers, illegal painkillers, cough syrups, untaxed cigarettes and e-cigarettes, following repeated complaints from the public.

The raid, ordered by Mr. Patcharapha Srithanyanon, District Chief of Bang Lamung, and led by officials including District Public Health Officer Mr. Natthawat Sophonswet, targeted the shop “Suan Nai Moss,” located on Chaiyapruek 2 Road, Huai Yai subdistrict, Bang Lamung district.

During the operation, officers confiscated 52 bottles of cough and antihistamine syrups, 18 blister packs of Tramadol painkillers, 105 packs of untaxed cigarettes, 32 electronic cigarettes, including refillable fruit-flavoured units and 20.245 kilograms of dried cannabis flowers.

The raid followed complaints to the Bang Lamung Ombudsman centre that the shop was illegally selling cough syrup intended for mixing with kratom tea, antihistamines, and Tramadol, all classified as dangerous drugs under Thai law. An undercover operation revealed the shop openly displayed cannabis, Tramadol, and illicit tobacco products.

Officers also discovered several vehicles parked at the rear, including two cars, two pick-up trucks and several motorcycles, with additional cannabis and e-cigarettes hidden inside. A group of youths were found smoking cannabis at the scene but ceased upon police instruction; no further illegal items were found on them.

The suspect, identified as Mr. Ek 29, was taken into custody along with all confiscated items and has been charged. He has been handed over to Huai Yai Police Station for further legal action.

Reports indicate that the shop had previously operated solely as a kratom tea store and he had been arrested several times before. Despite prior enforcement, the business reportedly expanded into illegal drug and tobacco sales until this latest raid.
