Non-immigrant visa O renewal bank statement requirement

Featured Replies

Hello,

I know that is probably a frequently asked topic/question. But I’d really appreciate any clarifications and answers.

I’m helping my dad complete his document package for his non-immigrant visa O (retirement) renewal that’s upcoming this month.

I pretty much understand all the documents needed and they’re easy to gather. But I’m still kinda unsure about the bank statement thing that you need to show income coming from abroad.

My dad uses Wise to transfer money internationally to his Kasikorn Bank account (he’s doing the 65,000 baht monthly deposit pathway).

I already got a 1 year long official bank statement from KBank (in Thai language), which has the description for each 65K baht deposited per month as an “international transaction.” But I’m unsure of the bank statement/transaction code (I think the code starts with GP), and if immigration still requires specific bank statement code. Is the bank statement good enough?

I also got the Confirmation Letter of International Fund Transfer (at least I hope I got the right one, the name was different) from KBank International Trade Centre for the entire bank statement length.

I just picked this sentence above to quote.

Seems you have done everything correctly.

Be aware that 12 month Bank Statement and also Bank Letter is valid for 7 days.

Most folk obtain them day or two prior to attending immigration for the extension..

You obtained the Bank Statement in Thai language which was a good move.

Which immigration office.

OP in attached current thread (uses Kasikorn) is obtaining extension today and stated he will update (report)

In this second thread folk interested in this foreign transfer codes can read post by @Upnotover and hence advice to obtain Bank Statement in Thai language.

@DrJack54

Wonderful, and thank you for the detailed info!

Regarding the bank letter, I got a bank letter (in addition to the bank statements) that also states the ending balance of my dad’s bank account. Is this the correct one or, if not correct, can it at least be used as a substitute?

The bank said that it’s this letter is the correct one.

The standard bank letter, addressed for the attention of Immigration, states your Father's name, account number and the balance and is merely confirmation of the account.

As pointed out above.. The bank letter just confirms sole owner of the account and also balance on day of issue.

Unclear pic attached but you get the idea.

The 12 month bank statement is just that... Lists all transactions in the account for previous 12 months.

Suggest you also provide photocopies of bb pages and name page with account #

Edit: added note. He should update bank book on day of application.

Yes some banks can do that by ATM however I opt for small deposit to update and show activity. Ask teller to print out the updated page in bank book.

Thank you for the follow up and further clarification. I’ll be sure to update my dad’s bank book on the day of the immigration visit. Also, thank you for the bank letter example—it’s very helpful for comparing and checking I have the correct letter.

Banks near immigration offices generally know instantly what you're after.

Helps to have a screenshot on your phone to show bank staff in some locations.

Fathers bank is Kasikorn here is their bank letter example.
