Gaza air strike.png

Israel's military has ordered an evacuation of Gaza City residents, signaling an expanded offensive aimed at taking over the region's largest urban center. This move complicates ceasefire efforts in the nearly two-year conflict and has raised international alarm. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has urged residents to leave the city as military preparations escalate, including increased airstrikes.

The takeover strategy includes demilitarizing Gaza and having Israel take security control, which critics argue could worsen the humanitarian crisis for the 2.2 million residents facing a growing famine. Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez criticized Israel's actions, accusing Netanyahu's government of "exterminating a defenceless people" through attacks on hospitals and civilians. He urged international intervention to prevent further humanitarian violations.

Sánchez stressed Israel’s right to self-defense but condemned actions perceived as genocidal, impacting tens of thousands who are now displaced or in dire need of assistance. Israeli airstrikes have intensified, destroying numerous buildings and compelling residents to move south, where conditions are already overcrowded and unsafe. The UN reported southern hospitals being overwhelmed and lacking supplies, worsening the plight of those fleeing.

Key Takeaways
