Cyber police have arrested a 35-year-old man accused of running a Facebook page that broadcasted illegal online gambling under the name “จับไข่ลุ้นโชค บ้านลุ้นมหัศจรรย์.” The operation, which involved live-streaming games of chance, reportedly generated about 300,000 baht per month. Officers executed a search warrant on September 9 in Soi Chaeng Watthana 14, Bangkok, leading to the arrest and seizure of computers, a router and prize slips.

The investigation began after police discovered the Facebook page hosting live gambling sessions where viewers were invited to play a game called “จับไข่ลุ้นโชค.” Players paid 500 baht per attempt to guess which of four cups contained prize slips, with rewards ranging from 5,000 to 40,000 baht. Interested participants contacted administrators through pinned messages on the page and transferred money via bank accounts before playing.

Police identified the suspect as Mr. Witawat, who admitted during questioning that he had previously worked as an employee for similar gambling livestreams, earning 15,000 baht per month. Seeing the high profits, he started his own page about nine months ago, recruiting four accomplices to help. Authorities gathered evidence and obtained arrest warrants for all involved before moving in to detain him.

Cyber police officials stated that the case highlights the persistence of illegal online gambling operations despite repeated crackdowns. They emphasized that such activities violate Thailand’s Gambling Act of 1935 and may also be linked to money laundering. The suspect faces charges including organising and advertising gambling, unauthorised online betting, conspiracy to commit money laundering and participation in financial transactions involving illicit funds.

Further investigations are underway to track down additional suspects connected to the gambling network. Police confirmed that evidence will be submitted to the court and financial records are being examined for potential money laundering prosecutions. Authorities also urged the public to report suspicious online gambling activities to prevent financial harm and legal risks.
