A 21-year-old man is in a coma after jumping from the fourth floor of a well-known shopping mall in Bang Yai, Nonthaburi, on the evening of 12 September. The incident occurred at around 20.30 and caused some panic among shoppers. Mall staff attempted to provide first aid before emergency services rushed the man to Kasemrad Rattanatibeth Hospital.

Witnesses reported that the man, identified as Mr. Punnaphop, landed on the first floor and was found lying in a pool of blood with a visible broken right ankle and unconscious. Security staff immediately cordoned off the area and evacuated bystanders while medics worked to stabilise him. Doctors later confirmed that he remained in a coma due to critical injuries.

The chain of events began when the man was caught allegedly taking upskirt photographs of a woman using an iPad near an escalator on the fourth floor. The victim shouted for help, attracting the attention of security guards who intervened. They requested to inspect his device, at which point he panicked, threw away his bag and iPad and leapt from the fourth floor in full view of the victim, security personnel and other shoppers.

Police from Bang Yai station confirmed they had received an emergency call from the victim, who reported the man following her and taking illicit images. Pol Col Siraphop Anusiri, Superintendent of Bang Yai Police Station, stated that officers are reviewing CCTV footage to confirm the sequence of events. He added that the case involves potential charges relating to harassment and public indecency, pending the suspect’s recovery.

Authorities will continue to monitor the man’s medical condition, which remains critical. Police said he would be questioned, once his health stabilises and the investigation will involve analysis of the recovered iPad and other belongings. For now, the investigation is ongoing, with both security footage and eyewitness accounts forming key evidence.
