Asbestos ceiling tiles?

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell what type of material this is on the ceiling? Possibly contains asbestos?

It's not asbestos.

Beat me if "plasterboard" is the wrong English word for it.

Gypsum fiberboard comes close to the German word for it.

Thai transcript is "jipsum".

I don't think there are any heath dangers with this metreral.

They look like the cheapest option of cut plaster board/gypsum as opposed to the normal fibre ceiling tiles. You should definitely fit insulation above them as they provide no insulation, whereas the fibre ceiling tiles give at least minor insulation.

No health risk.

Must be a billion used over the years.

Cheap and found everywhere.

I hate to lay new ones/replace.

Difficult to cut.

Similar materials used all over the world for drywalls etc.
