Police have arrested two senior executives of a Thai IT company on charges of fraud and tax evasion that allegedly caused state losses of more than 79 million baht. The suspects, aged 60 and 53, were detained separately at their residences in Min Buri, Bangkok and Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani. Both men were identified as company directors and taken into custody by officers from the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD) on 12 September.

The operation was led by Pol Col Narupon Karuna, Superintendent of Division 2, and Pol Lt Col Peeraphat Sutthasena. Authorities had gathered evidence indicating that the company submitted false sales reports to reduce taxable income. Officers alleged that the firm had consistently misrepresented its revenues from computer and mobile phone sales between 2016 and 2017.

An earlier investigation by the Revenue Department found that the company deposited large sums from sales into its bank accounts but declared far lower figures for taxation. It also failed to issue proper tax invoices to customers. Officials concluded that these actions deprived the state of more than 79 million baht in revenue.

Revenue officers summoned the company directors for clarification, but both reportedly delayed cooperation and sought to evade questions. The authorities later filed a formal complaint with the ECD. After gathering sufficient evidence, investigators secured arrest warrants from the court, leading to the coordinated detentions.

During questioning, both men denied the allegations. They were charged with “jointly evading, or attempting to evade, taxation using false evidence.” The case has now been transferred to ECD Division 2 investigators for further legal proceedings.

Police emphasised that financial misconduct of this scale undermines state revenue collection and hampers public finance. They noted that tax evasion cases often require long-term monitoring of company accounts, highlighting the role of cooperation between the Revenue Department and police. The arrests were presented as part of continuing efforts to crack down on corporate tax fraud.

The suspects remain in custody pending further investigation and judicial process. Authorities are expected to review the company’s other filings in detail to determine if additional charges will follow. The case is set to proceed through the courts, where prosecutors will consider the full scope of evidence.
