A senior Chinese legal delegation has visited Bangkok’s Special Operations Police Division 191 to observe its work and training demonstrations. The visit took place on 16 September, when Thai police officials welcomed Mr Tan Xuxiang, a senior figure from Beijing’s legal and political affairs sector. The event underscored cooperation between Thai authorities and China in law enforcement and security matters.

Pol Lt Gen Siam Boonsom, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, assigned Pol Maj Gen Teeradej Thammasuthee, Deputy Commissioner responsible for security, to host the visit. They were joined by Pol Maj Gen Worawit Yanajinda, Commander of the Patrol and Special Operations Division, Pol Col Phithak Suttikul, Deputy Commander and other unit commanders. Mr Tan Xuxiang, who is a Standing Committee Member and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, as well as President of the Beijing Law Society, attended with his delegation.

Pol Maj Gen Teeradej expressed his honour in welcoming the Chinese delegation, stressing the importance of their visit. He noted it was a valuable opportunity for both sides to share views and recommendations for strengthening law enforcement practices. Pol Maj Gen Worawit added that the unit’s responsibility is to enhance personnel capacity and tactical training to ensure effective operations, in line with its mission to be “191 – the people’s first reliance.”

During the visit, the delegation witnessed a live training demonstration by the Anti-Terrorism Division. The scenario simulated a hostage crisis inside a building, where 191 officers responded to neutralise threats and rescue hostages. The exercise showcased K9 units for suspect apprehension, the Arintharat 26 Special Operations team for tactical intervention, rope descent from buildings, water infiltration using inflatable boats and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) procedures.

Following the demonstration, Mr Tan praised the Thai police for their strength and tactical skills. He encouraged the unit to continue rigorous training of this nature to maintain preparedness. The visit was viewed as strengthening bilateral cooperation and offering insight into Thailand’s approach to special operations policing.

Looking ahead, Thai police officials expressed hope that the visit would enhance future collaboration and mutual understanding with Chinese counterparts. The focus remains on developing sustainable improvements in operational capacity and international cooperation in law enforcement.

I'm sure Thai people are thrilled at the prospect of having their police copy the law enforcement tactics and enforcement policies of Communist China.
