Local taxi drivers created a blockade at Phuket Deep Sea Port, preventing an outside cab from picking up tourists and resulting in police intervention. The standoff occurred shortly after the arrival of the Genting Dream cruise liner, carrying 4,200 tourists. Police, led by Superintendent Colonel Somsak Thongkliang, mediated the situation to prevent violence.

    A potential bank fraud was stopped in Chachoengsao, Thailand, when a man was intercepted by police attempting to withdraw a large sum of money from a pensioner's account. The intervention occurred on September 18 after alert bank employees at Krungthai Bank’s Provincial Hall branch noticed suspicious behavior. The suspect, identified as 57-year-old Tor from Sisaket, had assisted 71-year-old Samak from Tha Takiap in withdrawing 1 million baht, raising immediate concerns.
