The Royal Thai Air Force and the People’s Liberation Army Air Force of China have launched joint exercises, Falcon Strike 2025, in Udon Thani province. The drills, which began on 15 September 2025, aim to enhance tactical air operations and strengthen military cooperation between the two nations. The training is scheduled to continue until 25 September 2025 at Wing 23 airbase.

 

The exercises were marked by a visit from Air Chief Marshal Panpakdee Phatthanakul, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force, who welcomed Air Marshal Lu Hongzhou, Commander of Kunming Air Base, China. Air Marshal Lu is serving as the director of the Falcon Strike 2025 joint command for the Chinese air force contingent. This visit included a formal reception and discussions on the ongoing collaboration.

Air Chief Marshal Panpakdee highlighted the technological capabilities and rapid development of the Chinese air force, expressing appreciation for the continued cooperation in joint training. He emphasised that such exercises benefit both forces by improving operational readiness and tactical proficiency. The drills also serve to reinforce friendly relations and mutual trust between Thailand and China.

 

The Falcon Strike 2025 exercises focus on tactical air manoeuvres, coordination between units and operational efficiency in simulated combat scenarios. Experts note that joint training enhances interoperability and strengthens regional security ties. Officials said that the exercises demonstrate a shared commitment to peace and stability in Southeast Asia.
