Authorities have recovered the body of a Bahraini tourist who drowned at Karon Beach, Phuket, after going missing for three days. The incident occurred on 19 September when three Bahraini brothers entered the sea despite red flag warnings. While two were rescued, the eldest, Jasim Abdali Almeshkhas, was swept away by strong waves.

On the morning of 22 September, Karon Municipality rescue teams located his body lodged among rocks near Laem Sai in Karon. The body, clad only in swimming trunks, was retrieved and examined by forensic doctors from Vachira Phuket Hospital before being transferred for a detailed autopsy. Local authorities have notified the Bahraini embassy to assist with formal arrangements.

The brothers had arrived in Phuket on 14 September and were staying in the Patong area. On 19 September at around 18.30 they went swimming in rough seas at Karon Beach, where red flags had been raised to warn of dangerous conditions. Lifeguards managed to save two brothers, identified as Ahmed Ramadhan Almeshkhas, 32 and Mohamed Ramadhan Almeshkhas, who sustained only minor injuries.

Following Jasim’s disappearance, authorities launched an intensive three-day search involving lifeguards, rescue foundations and local police. His body was discovered on 22 September at 07.30 by the Karon Municipality rescue unit, which then alerted Karon Police Station. The remains were handed over to the Phuket Ruamjai Rescue Foundation for transfer to hospital.

Officials emphasised that autopsy procedures are required to confirm the cause of death. Meanwhile, coordination with the Bahraini embassy is under way to inform the family and facilitate repatriation. The case has drawn attention to persistent risks at Phuket’s beaches during rainy season, when strong currents and waves often make swimming hazardous.

Totally unnecessary imo.
