Looking for good urologist.

Featured Replies

There was a thread about this in 2019 but maybe things have changed?

I need a urologist to get a TURBT( Transurethral resection of bladder tumor) done.

Maybe Sheryl can provide the best provider.

Thanks.

I know someone who had their bladder cancer removed  successfully at Queen Sirikit in Sattahip, no idea if that's near as you didn't say

You do nto mention your location, but for something this serious I would nto recommend other than Bangkok anyhow.

Very highly recommend Prof. Charuspong

If cost is a constraint, he can also be seen at  Ramathobodhi Hospital (government hospital). Can try calling their Premium Clinic to see if can see him there are otherwise hard to see him directly, you'd be seeing students under his supervision.  Tel 0-2201-2211, little to no English spoken so have a Thai speaker do this.

Another good option is Prof. Kamol

who as @TonmaiYai noted, can also be seen at St Louis.  https://www.saintlouis.or.th/doctor/assoc.prof.kamol-panumatrassamee/cf05e234-0a09-4466-b15e-949f6a61e4e9

I can also recommend Dr Charuspong as Sheryl recommended him to me and he was great.......great manner, good English and took time to explain things.

Yeah, Bangkok would be the proper place to get it done. It's serious but we found it really early. The Canadian urologist that did the cystoscopy said just scrape it out totally and send it for biopsy. Then of course I asked when could we do this. Being socialized medicine, they are unable to set a date or even predict a timeframe. I'll be back in Thailand in a month or so and will address it then. At least the Dr didn't mark it as urgent.

About 50% of bladder tumors are malignant. If it is malignant, early diagnodis and treatment is important

Be careful / my urologist surgeon of a leading Thai unversity hospital thougth that the small tumor shown on a CT scan was not urgent but then I sent the CT scan to a professor urology in my home country (EU) and he said it was urgent to have treatment. After more than one year I am still undergoing immunotherapy which is free of charge in my home country but would have cost a fortune in Thailand.

My case is somewhat different. I was diagnosed in Canada and don't want to wait in the lengthy queue to get the operation so I'll get it done in Thailand by a reputable surgeon. Yes, it's free in Canada, but will you still be alive when they finally set a date for surgery.

Did they do a cystoscopy when you were first diagnosed in Thailand? If so, what did it indicate?

After blood drops appeared in my urine, a cystoscopy was done in December 2023 and a BCG was done end of January 2024 but the tumor returned fast and end of May 2024 I had a cystectoscopy. Since then I live happily with a stoma (I am retired) but then end of 2024 I went for a CT scan in Thailand and it was here that a urologist paid little attention to a small bubble in the scan and he told me "never mind come back after 6 months" but after I sent the scan to a university hospital in my home country they warned me not to waste time. First I had  earlier this year 25 sessions of radiotherapy without result and now I have the last 6 months immunotherapy which is showing good results.
