Hanoi is considering transforming the site of the Hanoi Beer Factory into a Beer Museum. This move follows a directive to review the current factory location at 183 Hoang Hoa Tham Street. Authorities aim to adjust plans to accommodate both a school and the proposed museum.

Last week, Vice Chairman Nguyen Manh Quyen emphasized the need to enhance tourism projects, with the Beer Museum as a focal point. The Department of Education and Training, alongside other relevant departments, is tasked with reviewing the current school plans on-site. The priority is to determine if the school can be relocated to free up space for the museum.

If finding an alternative site for the school proves challenging, planners will look at adjusting the southern road to delineate the school and museum areas. The Hanoi Beer Factory, occupying over 52,000 square meters, remains active, though parts are used for beer displays. Finalizing museum plans involves coordination between the Department of Tourism and Hanoi Beer Alcohol Beverage Corporation (Habeco), targeting completion by the end of the year.

The financial and architectural departments will assist Habeco with investment and planning adjustments, focusing on the approved H1-2 sub-zone plan. Initially, this plan designated the site for mixed-use, including public facilities and green space, after the factory's relocation.

The city's strategic initiative to relocate the factory is part of a list of nine sites aimed at redevelopment over a five-year period, with the Beer Museum poised to become a key attraction and cultural landmark.

Key Takeaways

  • Hanoi to assess options for Beer Museum at factory site.
  • Departments tasked with reviewing school relocation feasibility.
  • Museum development part of broader city tourism and land use plans.
