A police corporal died in a motorcycle crash in Phatthalung province in the early hours of 26 September 2025. Corporal Thanakorn, 37, lost control of his bike and collided with a utility pole before hitting a roadside stall.

The incident occurred at around midnight on Aphai Borirak Road, in front of a PTT petrol station in Sam Thahan subdistrict, Mueang district. Corporal Thanakorn was returning to his residence in Khuan Maprao subdistrict after attending a personnel gathering. He was riding a Honda Wave 110i registered in Phatthalung when the crash occurred.

Police investigators believe the crash may have been caused by the rider falling asleep at the wheel. Evidence at the scene included damage to a metal gate and a roadside stall, as well as marks consistent with a loss of control.

Rescue teams from Phatthalung hospital responded quickly, administering CPR at the scene before transporting the injured corporal to Phatthalung Hospital. Despite their efforts, Corporal Thanakorn succumbed to severe head, facial and body injuries. His death has been confirmed by hospital authorities.

Police are collecting evidence and conducting inquiries to determine the exact cause of the crash. They are examining factors such as road conditions, speed, alcohol and possible fatigue following the party. Initial findings suggest sleep deprivation may have contributed to the crash. The case remains under investigation.

Check the alcohol meter instead, nobody falls asleep after going home after a party.

More likely just drunk. Operating a motorbike takes a lot more concentration, coordination, wind in your face, etc, so less likely to fall asleep.
