Many experts have a linear knowledge and experience in one area, AI can draw conclusions from different and conflicting lines of knowledge. I'm afraid and worried that AI will eventually take over all professions.

His family eventually was able to bail him out and since then he's been all over social media and TV explaining his ordeal.
September 29, 2025Sep 29 Why wouldn't the emergency number be available year-round, not just high season? Ludicrous--and a mockery of supposedly being safety conscious. I'll be surprised if I see any of the 274 police actually in the street. The only police I ever regularly see in Pattaya are by the crosswalk by Central Festval, beachside.

Thailand has launched a nationwide security initiative using advanced technology to enhance tourist safety and draw two million Chinese visitors in the coming months. The move comes as the High Season approaches, with authorities aiming to restore Chinese arrivals to pre-pandemic levels while addressing growing safety concerns. The initiative was announced during an inter-agency meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Captain Thammanat Prompao at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. Tourism and Sports Minister Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn confirmed his ministry’s full support for the measures, emphasising that while Thai-Chinese relations remain important, public safety will remain the top priority. A central feature of the plan is the introduction of an artificial intelligence system known as AI Detect, developed for the Tourist Police. This facial-recognition tool will scan crowded tourist areas and cross-reference individuals with national arrest warrants. Officers have been instructed to use the system to monitor high-risk individuals or those displaying suspicious behaviour. To support visitors, the Tourist Police are expanding frontline services. The 1155 Emergency Hotline will be operational around the clock throughout the High Season. In addition, the Thailand Tourist Police app has been launched in eight languages, including Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean and Russian, enabling tourists to report incidents, request information or send emergency alerts directly to police centres. Authorities have also ordered a statistical review of tourist-related crimes. The findings will be used to designate official safe zones across Thailand, with results made public to strengthen visitor confidence. These efforts will be coordinated by the Department of Tourism, Tourist Police Command, Tourist Assistance Centre and the Tourist Assistance Coordination Centre (TAC). In total, 274 officers will be deployed across 79 key locations to manage increased tourism activity. Preparations will also support logistics for the upcoming SEA Games, scheduled during the High Season, when visitor numbers are expected to rise sharply. With the combined use of AI technology, enhanced policing and improved tourist support services, Thailand aims to reassure international visitors and secure a strong return of Chinese tourists in the months ahead. Key Takeaways • Thailand has launched AI Detect facial recognition to monitor safety in tourist hotspots. • The Tourist Police hotline and app will provide round-the-clock multilingual support. • 274 officers will be stationed at 79 locations to assist with tourism and SEA Games logistics. September 29, 2025Sep 29 I think that depending on how it's implemented this AI may bring more security in identifying criminals through face recognition. In the case of the actor kidnapped at Survanabhumi, it would probably have detected the faces of the criminals involved. But trust once broken is difficult to rebuild, who knows when the Chinese public will trust Thailand enough to come back.

September 29, 2025Sep 29 Does he know how to spell "tourism", does he know what "AI" stands for and can he possibly enlighten the police on the little nightly issue of the ladies of the third gender on Pattaya's beach road - latter not requiring a lot of knowledge but simple application of existing laws. Does he know how to spell "law" and "order"? If yes, then Thailand is its best hands ever since they call this country Thailand! Well done

Just perfect for alleviating Chinese fears of being kidnapped and forced to work in jungle call centers far from any tourist areas. Good thing the Thais have identified and issued national arrest warrants every Chinese gangster in Thailand so that AI will be able to find them as they hang out in crowded tourist areas.

Both have the same problem what they offer has gone stale the prices are too high and people have less money to spend. But just like here they raise prices come up with hairbrained extra charges and cry. The added joke in Vegas is they are offering room discounts to people that live in the city. Lol

September 29, 2025Sep 29 What a load of BS...every time there's an incident we get the same old BS...they will do this, and that, now they add an AI tag to make it seem like things change...same old BS. IF they want to stay longer, ensure you have proper checks and balances. For long term stays ensure you request a criminal record check from the relevent authoirty in that country. Stop being soft on crime because you don't want to turn away tourists - you are doing the reverse by actually increasing more crime. Ban benidorm Brits. Idiotic comment.
September 29, 2025Sep 29 That should do the trick. Never mind about shoddy buildings collapsing after approval by corrupt officials and 60 metre sinkholes plus Chinese citizens being abducted by Immigration connected gangs to be shipped off to call centres in Burma and tourists being shot in shopping malls, blown up at the Erawan Shrine or drowned in unseaworthy tour boats.

September 29, 2025Sep 29 Installing these cameras is easy, but handling the data responsibly is not. COVID masks make recognition more difficult, and false identifications can lead to serious problems.
September 29, 2025Sep 29 You'd think a big part of the motivation for Chinese people to travel would to be to get a break from this kind of surveillance.
September 29, 2025Sep 29 Well that should work well, facial recognition they all look the fooking same to me 🤣😂🤣
September 29, 2025Sep 29 I believe the Chinese Tourism went down the hill after that boat sank killing many of the people on board.
