  • Yeah, I always check to see what a country's AI Detect status is before visiting. It's a deal breaker for me if they don't use it.

  • tourists safety, but it is all about crime... Most tourists don't come to Thailand to commit crimes, but to have a nice holiday. And the crimes that occur are mostly the Thai citizens who are involved

  • The government of Thailand has utilized "artificial" intelligence since its inception.

The cost of holidaying in Thailand has risen sharply since covid and is further exaggerated by the strength of the Baht against many other currencies.  Their dilemma is they are charging at higher spending tourist rates but providing infrastructure and ammenities that is more in keeping with less developed countries.

So to attract the chinese & Indians who dont seem to mind the lack of ammenities they offer heavily reduced hotel rooms & packages that they dont offer to lets say tourists from western Europe and other developed countries who spend considerably more per tourist with less impact on Thailands resources & limited infrastructure.

The long & the short is do they want 40 million lower spending tourists of which many come on cheap pre paid packages remitted to overseas agents and doesnt end up in Thailand or do they want 30 million of which the majority are higher spenders paying full rates and in Thailand? They continually follow the same biased trend based on race preference to their own economic demise!

Nothing new about artificial intelligence. I have experienced all my life where people are artificial and not too intelligent.

Al produced cardboard cutouts of police officers on every corner.

Has anybody here rang 1155 to see what help is here? Does it work?

Yes it does.

As a Tourist Police Volunteer in Thailand for 9 years, I used to call 1155 to contact the office - it was a free call number!

Yet a lot of people arrested for running scams , call centres etc seem to be Chinese .

Go figure 🙈

Gone through the roof since the previous leadership allowed long term stays WITHOUT ANY BACKGROUND CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK.

Hell if you apply for a visa to Vietnam for long term they ask you for a criminal record check.

Chinese are now visiting Vietnam in the millions - through the roof. It's safe there. You have no Bendirom Brits or Russians looking to smash your head in, or Indians solicitiating your wife.

Not sure whether Chinese (or ANY) tourists would really appreciate being filmed, face-scanned and thereby being treated as potential criminals all the time. Also, no one knows what happens to all the collected digital data and materials, they can easily be abused or used against you.

I for one, strongly dislike this tendency, and generally try to avoid areas (or countries) where governments are gradually building out a digital surveillance state.

Not unless there is a brown envelope involved. 🤷🏼

Better say that Thailand is the hub of hubs :clap2:

Don't downplay AI. Within two years, we will not recognize our world. Changes are coming that are incomprehensible today. Disregard AI at your peril.

So will the Ai "safety" prevent all the immigration harassments and overcharging or cheating towards tourists and foreigners in Thailand ? Not really.

Might help tourism a little if airport immigration stopped requesting donations.  Or if enforcment were not for farang only. Of course cutting back on foreign criminals would mean to actually hold them accountable, not their bank accounts.

I dislike it too, but Chinese people are used to it as it's prevalent in China. The system in China not only identifies relevant information about the legal status of the person but also states the social score! Yes, in China they attribute a social score to each person. Someone with a low social score has difficulties for the most trivial things.

You mean book & prepay along with your Thai package to your agent in China so it never gets to Thailand!

Yes, I would agree. Thailand has bigger issues and problems. Not sure one could say that Thailand is safe holiday place any longer.

Though there are worse places like Haiti

Thailand has launched a nationwide security initiative using advanced technology to enhance tourist safety and draw two million Chinese visitors in the coming months.

Yes I'm sure this would help...
