Police in Phuket are investigating the unexplained death of a 58-year-old Russian man who was discovered submerged in a swimming pool at his accommodation in Rawai Subdistrict, Mueang District, on 2 October 2025. The man, identified as Mr Vladimir, was later found by police when they arrived, lifeless in his room after attempts to resuscitate him failed.

Chalong Police Station chief, Pol. Col. Rungrit Rattanaphakdee, said investigators and forensic doctors from Vachira Phuket Hospital examined the body. Mr Vladimir was lying face-up on his bed, still wet, with no visible injuries or signs of assault. Officers also confirmed there was no evidence of a struggle or ransacking in the room or area.

The victim’s wife, Mrs Iuliia, told police that at around 07:00 her husband had been sitting by the pool while she was asleep inside the room. She said she was woken by a housekeeper at approximately 10:00, who informed her that her husband had been found submerged. Together, they pulled him from the pool and placed him on the bed, attempted CPR, but he had already passed away.

A rescue unit arrived at the property to transfer the body to Vachira Phuket Hospital following a preliminary examination at the scene. Forensic doctors will carry out a more detailed autopsy to establish the cause of death. Police confirmed that Mr Vladimir held valid travel documents and an insurance policy, though further details have not been released.

Investigators have said enquiries are ongoing, and the results of the hospital autopsy are expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities have not indicated any suspicion of foul play at this stage.
