Read again. Sisaket is but one town I mentioned. There are waterfalls all over Thailand, as well as mountains, many of which you can't walk through because of the snakes and bugs. Kanchanaburi has hot springs, which is a reason you visit places. GG is talking about moving to somewhere. No one moves to a place because it has a hot spring. That's what cars, buses and trains are for.

I will, and have lived, next to a large city all my life until now, because I like what any major city has, but I wouldn't live within it because of the noise, pollution, traffic and crime they have.

Some people like big cities, have no cars, and it's what they like. many like the country, and want nothing to do with large cities, and many more like living near them, traveling to them because they have something they want to see, but again, my point was all large cities have much the same things.

What you post is your opinion, which you have said many times, that you have seen ALL of Thailand, which no one alive has. My point is true. Tourists don't only like to visit large cities and beaches. Millions want to see the country areas, because this is where history began..

Kanchanaburi has lots of things to do. All your posts are opinions and yet you have never been to CM but lecture me on what's there. This is why you are not liked.

Small towns have crap gyms. Limited food. No nightlife. Limited hotels. Small markets. No English book stores. Online reading on a tablet sucks.

Do you actually think you can answer for what everyone else likes to do? You can get a great workout, and I have thousands of times, in a crap gym. All you need are weights and a few machines. AGAIN, we're talking about LARGE cities. Markets are everywhere. Who needs a mile long market when one 2 streets long has everything Thailand offers? If you come to an Asian city, you aren't looking for English book stores, and if you move there, you can buy every book online and have it sent to you, as I have here. Millions read on tablets, so again, your opinion means nothing as far as the rest of the world and what they do.

I've been to Kanchanaburi because it has wartime history. My posts are personal experience and factual. Not visiting Chiang Mai doesn't mean it's any different than , again, all major cities in Thailand. If you don't like me, that's okay, as others here do.

I post common sense. Tourists don't go to Sisaket cause there isn't much to do.

So my personal experiences are opinions but yours are factual.

You are a strange one.

I go to markets for decent food. Most are not good.

Read this very slowly, as it seems you miss things............................... You do not know what anyone alive does unless you are with them 24/7................... There are over a thousand expats in the Sisaket area, and many visit for the reasons I pointed out. You seem to miss a loft of what people write so that's why I mentioned comprehending. Read things thoroughly before you reply.

I would think the majority of members, along with everyone else on earth, would think it's you that's the strange one. This isn't about opinions but common sense. If you've only been to a couple of major cities, you can't comment on what they have. Again, Chiang Mai is just like all other major cities, especially in Thailand. I have talked to many expats and Thais in America who lived there. You still haven't mentioned anything it has that even Bangkok doesn't.

Tell that to the millions who think otherwise.I've been to a couple of hundred here, in large, small and tiny cities, and they all have the same things. Thailand is a farming country, and the markets have all the same variety of veggies, fruits, fish, sauces, spices, cooking supplies, and such.

Bangkok has lots to do but Chiang Mai has mountains and waterfalls within a short distance. It is also more compact so better for walking.

You have never been there. Yet you keep posting nonsense.

Most farangs know the market food is ordinary. Why few go there for food.

Isaan has thousands of old guys dating Thai women. That's why they live there.

I haven't posted any nonsense in all the time I've been here, but I'm thinking most here would agree you have. Again, seeing you keep missing the point. GG asked where he should move. I told him to go where he could enjoy what he likes, that has what he needs. Best advice anyone can give. How is a place better for walking unless it's flat compared to mountainous? If you want to live in a big city, you move there. You can always use public transportation to go anywhere. Chiang Mai has bad air a lot of the year, and many stay indoors. There are better places to live within Thailand that have what Chiang mai has with better quality of air.

You make assumptions in almost every post, just like a few others here. Try thinking before you post and not just to try and argue. I made points, you disagreed, all because your assumptions have you thinking you're right. You exaggerate much of the time, bragging about being all over Thailand, when in reality you've done what millions here have, just passed through. Passing through can't give you much knowledge on an area. Don't assume why and what others do. It's not what an adult does.

Chiang Mai has ok air from June to January. No city in Thailand has as much to do within 5km.

Market food is the healthiest food you can get, in any country, period. What you do with that food is what matters,.Millions shop at markets all over the world. I think you need to research more.

I posted facts dude. Most farangs in Isaan are old guys dating locals. Very few tourists or young people go there cause it's mostly boring.

I bet you would argue with a rock.

Passing thru lol. Ive been to many cities 3 to 10 times.

You really are full of it.

Market food is mostly cooked in oil and fatty lol

All northern cities in Thailand have the same things Chiang Mai has besides a limited amount of hill tribes to visit. The air there is terrible a lot of the time, and you can see this without even going near it. Millions live in China's cities, which are as bad or worse, because it's all they know, and it's home, which doesn't mean they are places to suggest moving to.

I am arguing with a rock. But I'm the one making sense, while the rock is going by assumptions and personal experience, which is limited. You AGAIN, can't assume what is boring to others. Isaan doesn't have old guys dating locals. It's mostly married expats, with a few divorced like me who still live here, temporarily. Tourists go all over the world, from large cities to jungles, and everything in between. You don't know what others are doing unless you research travel brochures, and reviews.

No market food is mostly fresh veggies, fish, meats and fruits, along with sauces and spices to cook them with. they also have a lot of pre-made foods, some of which aren't healthy and some that are.

Most of it is fatty or full of sugar. Hard to believe you spent a day in Thailand when you get the basics wrong.

That reply is plain ignorance. I'm thinking you haven't been to many places and are only a passer through person, thinking they know all about a place after sitting in a coffee shop and leaving. Millions upon millions of people love big cities all over the world, because the country isn't for them. The same about country loving people, who hate large cities because of the traffic, pollution, crime noise and congestion. Stop assuming and then reply.

50 years of nutrition study and lifestyle, I think I know what's healthy or not. Again, your replies are mostly just to argue, and aren't even opinions, because they are based on argument value and not knowledge or personal experience. Read thoroughly before you comment, as there are other people here reading your crapola.

You have never been there. You really do have a attitude problem. Lecturing people on cities you have not visited once. I've spent months in CM.

Thai food is high in fat and sugar.

Thai food can be high in fat and sugar, particularly in restaurant-prepared dishes and street food. Many popular dishes contain significant amounts of sugar, often hidden in sauces like fish sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sweetened curries. For example, a single serving of pad Thai contains 8.3 grams of sugar and 684mg of sodium, while coconut milk-based curries and desserts like Kanom Krok and Thai Flan are high in both fat and sugar. The use of coconut milk, palm sugar, and added sugars in sauces contributes to the high calorie and fat content of many Thai dishes.

Fried items such as spring rolls, fried wontons, and tempura are also high in unhealthy fats due to deep-frying. Additionally, restaurant versions of dishes are often prepared with excessive oil and sugar, especially in tourist areas and food stalls, which can increase calorie density and contribute to health concerns like obesity and high blood pressure. Even some traditionally healthy dishes, like tom yum soup, can be high in salt and fish sauce, which adds to the overall sodium intake

I'm not lecturing but telling you just the way it is. I know many, Thais and expats, who have lived there years and tell what it's like, that it's just like other large cities they've been in. I think I'd rather take advice from them than you   lol

You have never been there. You don't know anything apart from 3rd hand comments. I would never take advice from some old expat that never goes anywhere.
