Thailand's Pheu Thai Party is preparing to unveil its candidates for the upcoming election next Tuesday, demonstrating readiness for the political race. This announcement, made by secretary-general Sorawong Thienthong, comes as Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul hints at a general election following the House dissolution before January 31.

The event will detail the party's strategy, highlighting public participation throughout its planning. Former prime minister and party leader Paetongtarn Shinawatra is set to deliver the keynote address, emphasising an "overhaul" of both the party and national governance.

Sorawong Thienthong stated that public and expert feedback has driven internal discussions, aiming to strengthen the party’s political reliability and accountability. The launch will occur at 1.30pm at the party's headquarters, with a livestream available on Facebook and YouTube.

Amid speculation regarding declining popularity, party-list MP Anusorn Iamsa-ard remains confident that Pheu Thai can regain voter support. He cited the party's "edible democracy" policies, such as the 30-baht universal healthcare scheme, as proof of resilience and commitment to public service.

Anusorn dismissed crisis claims, reaffirming Pheu Thai's dedication to serving as the opposition while holding the government accountable. He believes the party can effectively engage voters with its policies and continue its work beyond the election timeline.

Anusorn expressed full confidence in Paetongtarn Shinawatra's leadership, acknowledging her role in refining policies, which he believes will solidify Pheu Thai as a trustworthy choice for voters.

Key Takeaways:

  • Pheu Thai to unveil candidates and strategy next Tuesday.
  • Paetongtarn Shinawatra to highlight plans for party "overhaul."
  • Confidence remains high amidst speculation of declining support.

He is Phu Thai... If he did not express his full confidence then he would lose quite a lot from Thaksins influence. I find it difficult too believe they are supporting his daughter for leadership though. With any luck, the people will not vote for PTP this time around.
